Rapids Water Park

The park now occupies 25 acres and has approximately 400,000 visitors each year. There are three categories of rides, broken down into Biggest Rides, such as Big Thunder and Raging Rapids, Coolest Rides, such as Baby Blue and Pirates Plunge, and Wettest Rides, including Lazy River and Barefootin’ Bay. There are a total of 36 water rides or water features.

The park has been used in films and music videos. The movie Donnie Brasco has a scene with a water slide from Rapids Water Park, and rap singer Trina shot her music video for Pull Over, at the park. Jersey Shore producers were turned down when they requested to film at the park.

The restaurant serves traditional Mexican and Yucatan style food in a fun, informal atmosphere. The city of Calabasas is just a few miles from the ocean, so seafood is served fresh daily. The restaurant is best known for its Sunday morning brunch and Happy Hour, which boasts more than 140 different types of tequila, as well as Mexican beers and brandy.

La Paz Mexican Seafood Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in the area and generally requires reservations, especially for Sundays. The restaurant also offers catering, as well as a Friday buffet.

Clearwater Historic Lodge Corporate Office

Clearwater Historic Lodge

Clearwater Historic Lodge was founded in 1915 by Charles and Petra Boostrom in Grand Marais, Minnesota. The company rents cabins and outfits canoes. Originally named Clearwater Lake Lodge, it was the first lodging built on the Gunflint Trail.

Today, the lodge is owned by the VanTassel family, who have expanded the lodge and remodeled some of the cabins. The lodge sits on 12 acres and features 7 lakefront cabins, as well as two rooms above the main lodge. There are also “bunk houses” for hikers or hunters. Most of the furniture, including the stone fireplace, were made by Charlie Boostrom when they owned the lodge. Most nights, the daughter of the Boostrom, Harriet, comes to talk about the old times and what it was like growing up at the lodge.

Clearwater Historic Lodge has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is the oldest, original, whole log structure in Minnesota.

Avon Driving School was founded in 2001 in Simsbury, Connecticut. Owned since 2004 by current CEO Angela Brooks, the company offers classes in safety and defensive driving.

The company has two locations, one in Avon, Connecticut, the other in Simsbury. The school as a success rate of more than 90%. The program contains a total of 38 hours, 8 hours, of which are on the road driving, as well as a mandatory 8 hour drug and safety program required by the state of Connecticut. There is also a 2 hour training class for parents.

Avon Driving School has certified instructors and clear, well prepared plans so students can obtain their driver’s license. The company sponsors many DUI Awareness and Distracted Drivers campaigns, to help make teens and young adults aware of the dangers of driving while intoxicated and/or distracted driving (texting).

MSNBC was founded in 1996 as a partnership between Microsoft and NBC television group. The company operates a cable news service and is a subsidiary of NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast.

As of 2015, more than 9.5 million households in the US alone had access to this popular news and opinion channel. Also in 2015, the company fell to third place, behind CNN. Because of this, the channel made programming changes to add at least 8 hours a day of “hard news” programming, such as adding Greta Van Susteren, former Fox News anchor, to a 1 hour in depth news program at 6PM, and The 11th Hour with Brian Williams at 11PM, with Rachael Maddow and Chris Hayes filling the prime time hours.

MSNBC is also viewed internationally, as well as online and on XM and Sirius Satellite radio. The channel has been accused of “liberal bias” by several newspaper reporters and even former President Bill Clinton.
