Zamzows carries everything from pond supplies to dog food to lawn fertilizer. All locations offer pet grooming services and plenty of free advice. Competitors are big box stores Home Depot and Petsmart, however, Zamzows continues to expand, with another location planned to open in late 2017.

Zamzows is still company opened and operated by Gus and Carmalita’s two grandsons Jim and Rick Zamzow. In addition to major name brands, the company also sells their own version of many popular products, such as lawn weed and feed sprays and dog food.

In February 2019, the company donated $2400 to the Idaho BSU Intermountain Bird Observatory.

On December 20, 2020, the company allowed all remaining fresh cut Christmas trees to be sold for “whatever price the buyer wanted to pay.” All proceeds would be donated to the Simply Cats foundation.

Guthrie originally focused on Southern style food, but found that his fried chicken “fingers” were his most popular food item. He changed his focus to chicken in 1978.

The company is one of the first restaurants to sell chicken strips, commonly referred to as chicken fingers. Guthrie’s is also know for Texas Toast, and a secret family recipe for coleslaw and dipping sauce. The company currently has more than 27 locations, most of them in the Southern part of the US. Franchising began in 2005. A franchise was recently opened in Kentucky in late 2015.

Guthrie’s is still operated by the Guthrie family. The company is actively seeking franchises to open up locations in other parts of the country.
