Timex can trace its roots back to 1854 when they were the Waterbury Clock Company of Connecticut. At the time, numerous clock makers were operating out of Connecticut. Timex is the only company from that region that is still in business. The company changed its name to Timex in 1941.

The company is known for hard working, long lasting watches. Their slogan “Takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin” was very popular in the 1960’s and 70’s. Timex has evolved and now also produces heart rate monitors, GPS watches, and other high tech devices. The company divided itself into several divisions, which all fall under the Timex Group USA name.

Timex employs approximately 2,000 persons and still has headquarters in Middlebury, Connecticut, where they have remained for more than 100 years.

Edy’s Ice Cream was founded in 1928 in Oakland, California, by Joseph Edy and William Dreyer. Edy already had a successful candy business and William an ice cream company. The pair decided to join forces to make ice cream. The original name of the company was Edy’s Grand Ice Cream.

History

The pair decided to make innovative changes to ice cream, including the invention of Rocky Road, Candy Mint, and Toasted Almond, at a time when other manufactures only offered vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. In 1947, however, the pair had a falling out and parted ways. Edy continued to make ice cream under his own name, as did Dreyer.

In December 2019, the company introduced a limited edition ice cream flavor called Touchdown, which contained football shaped fudge and caramel pieces. 

Today, both companies are owned by Nestle. Edy’s Ice Cream had annual revenue in 2004 of 1.588 billion. Company headquarters are still located in Oakland, California.

Lenovo Computers has headquarters in Hong Kong, however, their USA division has headquarters located in North Carolina. The company does business in 160 countries and has locations in 60 countries. In 2014, Lenovo acquired mobile phone handset maker Motorola Mobility from Google.
