History

Haas has expanded his brand beyond the hunting and camo items his store sells. He recently partnered with fellow alumni George Bryan to create the Mossy Oak Golf Course in West Point, Mississippi. The company also operates Mossy Oak Properties, a real estate company, founded with his friend Chris Howley.

In 2007, the company founded Nativ Nurseries, which grows and sells trees to landscapers and contractors, as well as BioLogic, which sells everything from natural ground covers to soil testing.

Mossy Oak is headquartered in West Point, Mississippi and has approximately 5000 employees

Atom Tickets was founded in 2014 by friends Matthew Bakal and Ameesh Paleja, two movie lovers who were frustrated that it wasn’t easier to get together with friends and see a movie without some major planning.

This pair created a mobile app which allows users to notify friends quickly about an upcoming movie, buy tickets online, even purchase your concession items at a discount, all from the comfort of wherever you are.

History

With theaters experiencing major losses due to lack of customers, Atom tickets is betting that moviegoers will want to return to theaters if you make things more convenient for them.

The company began in a few select locations, then went nationwide, as well as internationally by expanding into Canada, in 2016.

Television viewers are familiar with this ad, which has been placed in many prime time locations.

The founders feel that young viewers (under 25) are turning away from theaters and need something different to attract them.

The company has stated in interviews that they might expand this model to include dining out, reservations, group sales, and advanced concession sales at other venues, such as sporting events.

In June 2018, the company launched a free ticket reward program for their users in competition with Fandango.

Company headquarters are currently located in Santa Monica, California.

John Otter founded Furniture Liquidators in Fairdale, Kentucky, in 1965. His company began with one small location, selling closeout furniture from other stores.

Today, the company has more than 13 furniture showrooms in both Kentucky and Indiana. Otter added new furniture, as well as mattresses and bedding to his locations in the early part of the 1980’s. The company focus was on making customers feel as if they were buying from a local, small-time business while providing the selection of large furniture corporations.

History

After more than 50 years in business, the Otter family is retiring. The company was sold to Factory Furniture Home in the early part of 2018. Some locations will be rebranded at the end of the year to FFO Home.

At this time, headquarters remain in Fairdale, Kentucky.

The AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) was founded in 1958 in Ojai, California, by Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus. After establishing the National Retired Teachers Association in 1948, Andrus decided to open up her organization to all Americans 10 years later.

The AARP is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing issues that affect older Americans through lobbying efforts aimed at both state and Federal governments. AARP also provides extensive consumer information, volunteer opportunities, and events including the annual National Event & Expo.

History

In addition to being active in healthcare related issues since at least the early 1960’s, the AARP, while not an insurer, it allows its name to be used by insurance companies in the sale of products, for which it is paid a commission. In fact, the group earns more money via commisions than it does from membership dues.

Many other groups, newspapers, and even politicians have been critical of the AARP, stating that they are masquerading as a nonprofit, while making billions selling insurance policies and high-cost membership fees.

AARP offers classes free of charge, such as caring for a spouse or how to use a smartphone.

AARP has headquarters in Washington, D.C. While it has only about 2,250 full-time employees, the company has more than 20,000 volunteers around the country.

Bayer can trace its roots all the way back to 1863. The company was founded in Barmen, Germany, by Fredrich Bayer and his partner, Johann Friedrich Weskott. Corresponding to his education, Friedrich Bayer was responsible for commercial tasks at the young company. Wescott had an apprenticeship as dyer, which gave him knowledge in chemistry.

After moving several times, the company came up with their logo of the Bayer “cross”, which is still used today. In 1899, the company received a trademark for the word aspirin and began selling tablets in drug stores. The company also sold heroin as a cough suppressant The word Heroin was a company trademark until after WWI.

History

Today, Bayer is mainly known for aspirin and other pharmaceutical items, even though the company has expanded into other areas including fertilizer, vitamins, and, with the acquisition of Monsanto in 2016 for $66 Billion, GMO seeds.

The company also has a pet care division, which markets flea, tick, and heartworm medication for dogs and cats, as well as prescription drugs for horses, cattle, and family pets.

Bayer’s main headquarters is located in Germany, as well as headquarter extensions in almost every continent. In the US, the corporate office is located in Whippany, New Jersey.
