Yamaha Motors was founded in 1955 as an offshoot of Yamaha Corporation. The company’s first product was a 125CC motorcycle called the YA-1.

By 1963, Yamaha began making a name for themselves in the racing circuit, as well as motorcycle enthusiasts. In 1968, they produced their first 4 stroke motorcycle, the XS-1, which had a 650CC motor.

History

The company was an early innovator of the monoshock suspension for offroad motorcycles. In 1974, the Yamaha YA250 came standard with this suspension. The YA250 was one of Yamaha’s best selling offroad bikes until it was discontinued in 2015.

The company has built engines for car manufacturers, including the 1967 Toyota 2000GT and the 1989-1995 For Taurus SHO, but the company continues to insist that they are not interested in manufacturing a Yamaha car or truck.

The company does, however, offer a wide variety of other motors and non-motorcycle vehicles, including outboard motors for boats, snowmobiles, and ATV’s.

Yamaha also makes scooters, electric bicycles, industrial use unmanned helicopters, electric wheelchairs, Yamaha motorcycle parts and accessories, such as clothing, helmets, and jackets, generators, swimming pools, and water pumps for water slides.

History

Businesswire found that 9 out of 10 Americans don’t understand the terms of the student loans that they receive. Credible is attempting to help clients find the best possible refinance rates on current student loans, as well as finding the best rate for those seeking personal loans.

History

There is no charge for clients (borrowers) as lenders pay a small fee to Credible for using their platform.

In 2015, the company received seed funding of $2.7 million.

Sometime in the 1920’s, a man named Irv Kolarik was operating a gas station and lunch counter which served mostly sandwiches. A few local women overheard Kolarik say that he didn’t like the gas business much and would rather work the restaurant. He also said that he would like to change up the menu to include fried chicken but didn’t really know how to make it.

The women told Kolarik that they would show him how to cook fried chicken if he would buy the chickens from their farm. Soon, Kolarik had more customers than he could handle. He closed the gas station and opened a larger restaurant to handle the crowd.

History

For decades, business thrived. Kolarik had slightly outrageous ideas for advertising, including flooding the restaurant’s roof and have teenagers ice skate on it. The nearby airport allowed for mild entertainment as customers could watch the planes take off and land, and the BlueBird Bus line made the restaurant a bus stop. In 1956, Kolarik added a cocktail lounge for late night business.

Unfortunately, when Route 66 bypassed the location, business dropped. Delbert “Dell” Rhea purchased the restaurant in the early 1960’s. His son Patrick now operates the business and has had it listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The sign was recently replaced after the original sign rusted out after 70 years of service.

The restaurant offers a wide range of foods, including the same fried chicken recipe from the 1920’s, Grace Rhea’s recipe for baked beans, and the 50/50 burger, which is half ground beef and half bacon.
