Robert Beckinger remembers working at his grandfather’s furniture store when he was just a schoolboy. Later, he worked for his father after he took over the store after the death of his grandfather.

When his father retired in 1975, Beckinger decided to open his own furniture store. HIs first building had only 8,000 square feet total, including the warehouse.

Today, Beck’s Furniture has 4 different companies, with 3 furniture locations around California. Each furniture store has a minimum of 200 thousand square feet of showroom space and $8 million in inventory for same-day delivery.

History

The coronavirus pandemic has made things difficult but Beck’s has managed to survive, even after tropical storm Dorian ripped the roof off of Beck’s furniture location in March 2020, in Montague.

Crispers Restaurant Corporate Office

The company operates a small chain of about 40 casual-dining restaurants in Florida. The menu offers traditional and flatbread sandwiches, soups, and salads, along with a selection of smoothies and other frozen drinks.

In addition to dine-in seating, the restaurants offer take-out service. Crispers was founded in 1989 by Bill and Vanessa Whitaker; it was owned by grocery store operator Publix Super Markets, who sold the company to Healthy Food Concepts in 2011.

Crispers is offering free meals to veterans on Veterans Day, November 11th.

1LifeHealthCare, doing business as One Medical, operates a chain of primary healthcare clinics. The company offers online resources, a mobile app, and walk-in clinics.

One Medical currently has 72 locations across the US, with 29 of these being located in the greater San Francisco, California, area.

History

Google’s parent company Alphabet backs One Medical and the Carlyle Group has invested $350 million.

In January 2020, One Medical went public on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol ONEM.

The company announced that it would release its third-quarter 2020 results on November 10th.

When Max Simkoff purchased his first home in 2011, he was shocked at how difficult the process was and how impossible it was for the average person to understand the pages and pages of documents that were presented to them.

Simkoff founded States Title in 2016. The company plans on a complete overhaul and update to the antiquated real estate title business.

In December 2018, States Title acquired North American Title, a subsidiary of homebuilder Lennar.

In May 2020, the company raised $123 million in Series C financing.

States Title enables a completely digital and contactless experience to transform the title industry while costing significantly less.

Winners Corporate Office

Winners

Winners was first opened in 1982 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At the time, it was the first and only discount clothing and shoe store in Canada.

In 1990, Winners was acquired by TJX Companies, who also own TJ Maxx stores. Since 2001, Winners has been paired with HomeSense, which offers home decor items, similar to the HomeGoods stores in the US.

In 2016, CBS investigated the “retail price” on Winner’s price tags and discovered that they were not always what they appeared to be and were misleading.

The company currently has 279 locations throughout Canada.

Winners does not sell their clothing or home decor items online.

In July 2020, the parent company issued a statement regarding COVID-19, stating that all employees would be required to wear masks until further notice but that stores would remain open.
