Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour Corporate Office

Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlours was founded in 1963 by Bob Farrell and Ken McCarthy in Portland, Oregon. The company became quickly known for giving children free sundaes on their birthday’s, as well as for their 1900 turn of the century decor, player pianos, and waiter costumes that include straw boat hats.

At the height of the chain’s popularity, there were 120 Farrell’s locations. The company fell on hard times after 1980 and by 1990, nearly all Farrell’s locations were closed or sold. After a lengthy legal battle, Parlour Enterprises was determined to be the new owner/operator of the chain. The chain quickly opened 6 locations throughout California and 1 in Hawaii. The company has been in talks to reopen the original Farrell’s location in Portland.

The company offers a wide range of ice cream dishes, sundaes, milk shakes, and hamburgers.

Ruby’s Diner Corporate Office

Ruby’s Diner was founded in 1982 when Dough Cavanaugh decided to remodel an abandoned building at the end of Balboa Pier in California. Cavanaugh liked the 1940’s look of the building, so he modeled his restaurant after that time period.

The restaurant chain serves classic American cuisine, such as cheeseburgers, milkshakes, French fries, salads, soup, and chili. While the basic Swing Era design is the same at every location, the company tries to add unique touches to reflect the local area. The name of the restaurant is the first name of Cavanaugh’s mother and every location has her high school yearbook picture in each restaurant.

Today, Ruby’s Diner has 35 locations. The company named a new CEO in March of 2015, Scott Barnett, the first new CEO in almost 30 years.

Dunham’s Sports Corporate Office

Dun 1

Originally founded as Dunham’s Bait and Tackle in 1937 by Ron Dunham, this Troy, Michigan, based sporting goods company began when Dunham asked his wife to try to sell a bathtub full of minnows on the side of a highway for bait. When Ron returned, Ethyl had made $18.  From a humble beginning of selling bait, this company has grown to become one of the largest chains of its kind in the Midwest.

dun 2  After their son died in the Korean war in 1953, the couple lost interest in the business and sold it to Ben Hardesty and two of his business partners, who sold sporting goods in New York. Hardesty wanted to keep the name because he believed it already had a good reputation behind it.

dun 3

Today, Dunham’s Sports has more than 230 locations in 22 states. The original store burned to the ground in 1946, but the company simply rebuilt a larger store.

Customers using the Alpena, Michigan, location may have been exposed to the coronavirus in early August 2020, the company reported.

In June 2023, an employee allegedly sold a gun meant for a convicted felon who later used it to commit murder.

The company specializes in all types of athletic equipment and gear, footwear, clothing, firearms, and digital guides. Dunham’s Sports has 2,000 full-time employees and annual revenue in 2013 of $140.7 million.
