St. Augustine Alligator Farm Corporate Office

St. Augustine Alligator Farm was founded in 1893 in St. Augustine, Florida. The park was originally a small operation at the end of a railway line, where passengers could buy souveniers and see a small museum. The alligators were an afterthought.

Today, the company operates the oldest attraction in the state of Florida. The park has 24 species of alligators and crocodiles, as well as other reptiles, mammals, birds, and shows. The company recently added a zip line over a small lake. There is a rookery in the back of the 7 acre property where wild birds live and nest.

In 1989, the park received accreditation from The American Association of Zoos and Aquariums. In September of 1992, the park was added as a U.S. Historic District.

The company operates a specialty store, as well as an online store, that features items for babies and young children. Gangi purchased Cullen’s Play Pen from the Mizel family in 1989.

Cullen’s Play Pen is the name of the retail store, with Babysupermarket being the name of the online store. The two story retail location has 8,000 square feet of space and sells everything except clothing and diapers. The company also has an 8,000 square foot warehouse for the retail store and a 35,000 square foot warehouse for the online store.

The online store, BabySupermarket, does sell clothing, but like the retail store, no diapers. Combined, the company had an estimated annual revenue in 2015 of $2 million and employs approximately 25 persons.

Acme Markets was founded in 1891 by Samuel Robinson and Robert Crawford in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The company operates a chain of grocery stores. In 2011, Acme Markets was the second-largest retailer in Philadelphia.

The company currently has more than 179 locations in the states of Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania and employs approximately 20,000 persons.  Currently, the company operates as a subsidiary of Albertson’s. Customers can place orders online and pick them up at the store of their choosing. Home delivery was discontinued in 2009.

Most locations have Sav-On Pharmacies inside the stores, as well as a bakery, deli, and salad bars. The online site offers recipes, coupons, and tips for healthy living. Many locations are being remodeled at this time.

In May 2022, Axios reported that Acme was Philadelphia’s favorite supermarket.

The company designs and sells household furniture, including bar stools, computer desks, and  media centers. They are best known for their children’s and master bedroom furniture designs and sets. Only premium solid hardwoods are used in the furniture process. Some of the company’s most popular models are Hartland Wood, Heirloom Wood, and Cottage Traditions. A recall for bunk beds which were sold exclusively at Haverty’s was issued in 2014 for failing mattress support rails on the upper bunks.

American Woodcrafters was involved in May of 2014 in the collection of canned goods and food items for the needy. In 4 weeks, the company collected over 2,400 cans of food. The company is also known for their “Backpack Drives” to help local school children get the necessary backpacks and school supplies they need.

Lion Country Safari was founded in 1967 in Western Palm Beach County, Florida, by a group of British and South African entrepreneurs who wanted to offer those who could not travel to Africa, a chance to see what a safari was like. The company operates a cageless zoo.

The company operates a type of “reverse” zoo, where animals roam free and people are caged in their cars. The park has more than 1,000 free roaming animals, including giraffes, lions, white rhinos, and zebras, as well as 5 miles of paved roadway. There is also a walk through area of the park, which includes a spray fountain children can run through, a petting zoo, and gift shop. Due to a few patrons who did not follow the rules, lions are now housed behind fences or water ways to prevent accidents.

Lion Country Safari was named 3rd Best Zoo in the Nation by USA Travel Guide. The Florida location is the last “Lion Country Safari” to remain open. Other locations, such as the ones in Texas, California, Ohio, and Virginia, have all closed down operations.
