Relax the Back Store Corporate Office

Relax the Back Store was founded in Austin, Texas, in 1984. Virginia Rogers, entrepreneur, purchased the company in 1987 and began franchising opportunities. The first franchise opened in 1989 in San Antonio, Texas, by former San Antonio Spurs basketball player Colby Dietrick.

Today, the company has more than 120 locations throughout the US and Canada, as well as their online store. The company is a chain of specialty stores that offer back support products, such as cushions, pillows, car seats, adjustable chairs, standing desks, and massage items.

In November of 2016, Relax the Back was acquired by Interactive Health, Inc. for an undisclosed sum. Interactive Health also operates Human Touch, which sells innovative massage chairs and zero gravity reclining chairs.

Tumbleweed Restaurants Corporate Office

Tumbleweed Tex Mex Grill and Margarita Bar, known simply as Tumbleweed Restaurant, was founded in 1975 by Linda and George Keller in New Albany, Indiana. A few years later, Linda converted her parents’ restaurant, located in Louisville, Kentucky, into another Tumbleweed restaurant.

Today, the company has 19 locations in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. The company has plans to open a new location in Salem, Indiana, later in 2017. The restaurant chain serves American/Mexican style cuisine, as well as offering happy hour at most locations. In 2006, the company had annual revenue of $61 million.

The Kellers sold the chain in 1995 for $9.8 million to local area investors. The company went public for a short while, but as the business began to fail, it was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2009. The company went private once again, after coming out of bankruptcy in 2010.

Due to the coronavirus, many restaurants are struggling, including Tumbleweed locations. 

The company maintains a corporate office in Louisville, Kentucky.

Today, the company has franchised locations in 41 states. The company is best known for renting to younger persons and those with less than stellar credit.

Rent-A-Wreck is now owned by JJF Management, who acquired the company in 2006. Some locations now offer airport service, or airport pick up and delivery. The company recently started a wheelchair van rental program for the disabled.

In February 2018, a judge dismissed a bankruptcy claim by the company stating that the company was not bankrupt and that this was nothing more than creative bookkeeping.

The company purchased another chain of cafe’s, Smitty’s, and renamed themselves, Perkins Cake and Steak. In 1987, the company renamed itself Perkins Family Restaurants.

Today, Perkins also owns Marie Callender’s restaurants. There are currently about 400 Perkins restaurants in 33 states, as well as 5 Canadian providences and 68 Marie Callender’s restaurants in 6 states. In 2005, the company had annual revenue of $352.3 million, as well as 25,000 full time employees. The company has headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee.

The company filed for bankruptcy in 2011 and was acquired by the private investment firm  Wayzata Investment Partners. The company has closed 65 locations, including all restaurants in Western New York, and laid off approximately 2,500 employees.
