Islands Restaurant Corporate Office

Islands Restaurant was founded in 1982 by founder and current CEO Tony DeGrazier.  DeGrazier wanted to put a little bit of the beach life into downtown Los Angeles, so he opened his first restaurant in West Los Angeles. The restaurant features typical American cuisine such as hamburgers, french fries, milkshakes, fruity cocktails, and speciality fries.

Today, the company has more than 50 locations in California, Hawaii, Arizona, and Nevada. Each restaurant has an island theme to it, including palm trees, surfboards mounted on the walls, tiki wood tables and chairs, as well as surfing videos played on big screen televisions throughout each restaurant. The menu has expanded to include salads, sandwiches such as The Hula and The Big Wave, soft tacos, as well as “island” desserts such as Kona Pie.

Islands Restaurant had revenue in 2014 of $112 million and plans to open 5 more locations in the next two years.

Carl's Jr. Logo

Within one year, the couple owned 4 hot dog carts and the following year they moved to Anaheim, California, to open their first drive-through restaurant, Carl’s Drive-In Barbeque. Although the company is known for hamburgers today, those were not actually added to the menu until 1945.

Carl's Jr. burger and cup In January 2019, the company announced that it was going to introduce a plant-based burger called Beyond Famous Star.

Carl’s Jr. announced that it was testing a burger for one day only which features a CBD based sauce. If it proves to be popular, it might make the regular menu.

Carl’s Jr. is one of only 6 restaurants that actually grill the meat for their burgers. https://www.eatthis.com/burger-fast-food-chains-grill-burgers/

KFC logo

Kentucky Fried Chicken was founded in 1952 but had its roots back in the days of the Great Depression. Harland Sanders began selling fried chicken from a small roadside restaurant in North Corbin, Kentucky, in 1930. Today, Kentucky Fried Chicken, often referred to as KFC or even Colonel Sanders, is the second most popular restaurant chain in America, right behind McDonald’s. The company has almost 19,000 locations in 118 countries and was one of the first American chains to expand internationally. Although the company had a few problems in the early 1970s due to changes in corporate ownership, the company is now a subsidiary of Yum Brands, which also owns Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.
