Cavender’s Corporate Office

Cavender’s was founded in 1958 by James R. Cavender in Pittsburg, Texas. Originally named Cavender & Smith’s, Cavender bought out his partner the following year and changed the name to simply Cavender’s.

Today, the company is named Cavender’s Western Outfitters but is more commonly referred to as just Cavender’s. Some locations sell only boots and footwear. Those locations are called Cavender’s Boot City. Gardner White Furniture Corporate Office

Gardner-White Furniture  was founded in 1912 by Eugene White and John Gardner. The company was purchased by the current company president’s great grandfather who refused to change the name in order to save money on signs and company forms.

The company had only one store until 1974. Gardner-White Furniture now has 10 stores throughout the state of Michigan as well as a large warehouse in Auburn Hills. The company offers household furniture, sofas, mattresses, and consumer electronics such as televisions and microwave ovens.

Gardner-White Furniture is one of the largest partners of Best Buy and recently opened two locations inside Best Buy stores in Bloomfield Hills and Novi, Michigan. As of 2013, the company began offering same-day delivery service within a limited area.

The New Detroit parade in July 2020 featured Gardner-White Furniture this year, with CEO Rachel Stewart as the official sponsor. In her speech, Stewart vowed to fight racism. 

In August 2023, the company renovated the teacher’s lounge at the Saginaw, Michigan, Elementary school at no charge to the teachers. 

Gardner-White maintains a corporate office in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

SDI Technologies was founded in 1956. Originally called Realtone Electronics, the company produced pocket lighters and transistor radios. The company went public in 1961 and changed their name in 1963 to Soundesign, which is a now defunct brand of electronics. After going private again in 1982, the company produced the first clock/radio/telephone unit in 1983. The company again changed its name to SDI Technologies in 1994.

SDI Technologies manufacturers consumer electronics such as iHome, Timex, My Little Pony, Zenith, Transformers, eKids, Sylvania, New Balance and KIDdesigns. These are some of the most recognized brand names in the world. The company distributes their products to 70 countries and has more than 400 employees in Asia.

REI was founded in 1938 in Seattle, Washington by Lloyd and Mary Anderson. Originally named REI Co-Op, the store later changed the name to simply REI, which stands for Recreational Equipment Incorporated.

REI is a consumers cooperative with a $20 lifetime membership fee. Members receive an annual dividend equal to 10 percent of the amount of purchases they have made during a calendar year. This dividend must be spent at an REI store.

The company specializes in outdoor recreational gear and accessories, sporting goods, footwear, outdoor apparel and active wear, along with camping gear. REI has more than 140 retail stores as well as selling online and via catalogs. The company had annual revenue of $2.2 billion in 2014.

In January 2022, REI stated that it was building a 4th warehouse/distribution center in Tennessee. 

REI maintains a corporate office in Sumner, Washington, and Kent, Washington.

He began a mail order catalog business which grew very quickly. Unfortunately, the Federal law passed in 1968 outlawed the sale of mail order guns, which lead Gander Mountain to revamp their focus.

Gander Mountain opened their first retail store in 1996, The success of this company has allowed it to open 115 stores in 22 states. The company operates retail stores which focus on outdoor clothing and footwear, hunting, fishing, and camping equipment, along with knives, new and used guns, ammunition, flashlights, lasers, optics, holsters, and personal defense products such as pepper spray.

The company had $1.6 billion in revenue in 2014 and employs 2,325 people.
