In 2015, Julia Cheek was not feeling well and began a series of tests to try to determine the cause of her health problems. No one ever explained her test results and after spending 6 months and more than $2,000 in co-pays, she finally discovered that she had vitamin deficiencies and other issues.

Cheek decided that there had to be a better and less expensive way to have testing performed. In 2015, she founded EverlyWell. The company offers more than 30 test at home kits for everything from hormone to vitamin deficiency tests, metabolism and STD testing, as well as thyroid function and fertility tests.

The company received a $1 million line of credit after appearing on the popular television series Shark Tank in 2017. In 2017, the company recorded revenue of $6 million and in 2018, $20 million and is projected to hit the $50 million mark in 2019.

Cheek says that she encountered a lot of resistance at first since insurance companies cover the costs of these tests, but Cheek believes that people have a right to privacy and that those with no insurance or high deductibles, such as her case, will be interested in her product.

Bit Body, Inc., doing business as MTailor, was founded in 2012 by Miles Penn. The company offers tailor-made clothing using an app and a smartphone camera, to create a custom fit, tailored wardrobe for less than custom made clothing from brick and mortar retailers.

Reddy Ice is the largest producer and packager of bagged ice in the United States. Although the origins of the company go back as far as 1927, it’s current history lies with the Southland Corp. Originally a minor division of the Southland Corporation, parent company of Seven-Eleven convenience stores, Reddy Ice was sold off to Suiza Foods in 1988.
