The company is now the fifth-largest conventional supermarket chain in the U.S. and the second-largest conventional supermarket in the southeast based on store count.

Currently, the company operates in 7 states and has 704 locations under the Bi-Lo, Winn-Dixie, Harvey’s and Fresco Y Mas names. The company continues to grow, mainly through acquisitions. In 2013, Southeastern Grocers acquired 22 Piggly Wiggly’s in South Carolina for  $35 million and in the same year, Bi-Lo acquired Harvey’s, Sweetbay and Reid’s banners for $265 million.

The Fresco Y Mas name was unveiled in 2016. This part of the Southeastern Grocers group is designed to appeal to the Hispanic market, with the name meaning “Fresh and More” in English.

The company offers solar cells, installation and mounting hardware, financial products, electrical hardware, monitoring solutions, and related software. The company also sells electricity generated by solar energy systems to customers. In August of 2016, Tesla acquired the company for $2.6 billion. In 2017, the company changed its business model to one where customers would buy the solar systems with cash or via financing.

Many of SolarCity’s panels and solar roof products will now be made at the new Buffalo, New York, plant, starting in 2017. Company headquarters have been relocated to San Mateo, California.
