Cytec Industries was founded in 1993 when it was spun-off from American Cyanamid Company.

The company develops, manufactures, and markets specialty materials and chemicals to clients in the aerospace, mining, industrial materials, and plastics industries. Clients are located in North America, Latin America, Asia/Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Olin Corporation Corporate Office

Olin Corporation was founded in 1892 by Franklin W. Olin as the Equitable Powder Company. The company originally supplied explosives to local coal mines and quarries, and expanded into cartridge production in 1898.

Olin founded the Western Cartridge Company with his sons, John and Spencer, in order to diversify his business. Western acquired many businesses, including a paper manufacturer, a fiber wad facility, a cartridge brass manufacturing facility, and founded a brass mill.

In 1944 all of the Olin companies were unified under the new holding company Olin Industries, now known as Olin Corporation.

Today Olin Corporation manufactures chemicals used to make bleach, water purification, and swimming pool cleaners, pulp and paper processing agents, branded sporting ammunition, reloading components, military ammunition, and industrial cartridges.

The company trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol OLN, is a member of the S&P 400, is a member of the Russell 2000, is #832 in the Fortune 1000, has 3,900 employees, and had $2.24 billion in revenue in 2014.

Covance Corporate Office

Covance was founded in 1968 as Environmental Sciences Corporation in Seattle, Washington.

In 1972 the company bought Hazleton Laboratories, a laboratory that conducted toxicology testing, and took on that name. By 1982, Hazleton had become the largest biological testing company in the U.S.

Covance was purchased by Labcorp in 2014 in a $6.1 billion deal.

Today the company provides testing services, including toxicology studies and biostatistical analysis for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Other clients include companies in the food, agrochemical, and chemical industries. The company also provides testing services which include designing and realizing human clinical trials.

Sigma-Aldrich is the result of the 1975 merger between Aldrich Chemical Company and and Sigma International, Ltd. The companies had complementary product offerings and the newly formed company experienced double-digit growth in the 1980’s and 1990’s.

By 2001 Sigma-Aldrich manufactured more than 110,000 chemical products, with a total product offering of 230,000 products. Products are sold to 100,000 customers, including laboratories which conduct government and commercial research.

The company’s two main business segments are Research Chemicals, which include specialties, essentials, and biotech, and Fine Chemicals, which are used in commercial applications.

In 2014 Sigma-Aldrich agreed to be acquired by pharmaceutical giant Merck in a $17 billion deal.
