Benny’s was founded in 1924 in Providence, Rhode Island, by Benjamin Bromberg. The company operates a chain of department stores in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Benny’s offers a wide range of items in many departments, including lawn and garden, fishing, pet supplies, candy, seasonal, tires, bikes, sporting goods, automotive, food, electronics, hardware, housewares, and toys. The company also provides hands on services such as tires, paint and stain mixing, as well as providing fishing and hunting licenses.
Unlike other retailers, Benny’s does not do online sales, although the company does have a website showing departments and sale items, as well as a list of locations. Current CEO Malcom Bromberg states that while the company won’t rule out internet sales, at this time, they have no immediate plans to open up their company to online purchases.

I think every kid got their first bike from Benny’s. I know I did and so did my children. When it’s time for tires, new battery, toys at Christmas, values and great customer service..off to Benny’s we go. Trying to find some x-large tee shirts with the logo on them has been tough to find but I am hopeful that I will prevail. Great store, great staff, you will be greatly missed.
Best of luck to all in the next phase of their lives.

the tire guy (Jim) in Plymouth is an rude, unprofessional, and talks about his superiors in a degrading way…also he ranks the company as the worst to work for… nice job Bennys subjecting customers to this person, he also hits on women.. and he really needs a good shower and clean up. Including his wig.

I challenge any upper management to visit some of their stores to evaluate the reception they will consistently receive from management and front line staff. I am referring specifically to the Warwick Ave and West Shore Rd stores in Warwick but I have heard similar comments from people who shop other locations.
As you enter there is generally a management type near the door who looks around or through you with not a hint of a smile or welcome. If you pass the registers you will receive the same bland look and obviously disinterested demeanor,
If there are any smiles or animation to be seen or heard, it is between the managers and employees.
If you interrupt them to ask where an item is, they will likely point in the general direction with rather cryptic directions. They do not offer to lead you to a product and appear a bit irritated as they call out to a hapless employee to guide you.
It is not unusual for a cashier to NOT EVEN THANK US.
I am tired of the treatment and have decided to no longer patronize Benny’s for my tires or any other purchases. It seems evident by the management and the negative environment gives the clear message: “You are not appreciated as a customer.”
I don’t have a axe to grind, I am easy to get along with yet I am totally baffled as to why corporate could be unaware (or uncaring) that their front line is so unwelcoming.
” I think that the revised Benny’s theme song for the kids to sing should be…”Benny’s, Benny’s…Rhode Islands dreariest store!”

Hello,
I have been going to Benny’s for 35 years.I usually go the the Benny store in East Providence, RI. I have always found the employees to be very helpful, cheerful and nice. Today I HAD AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE! I had a male cashier who I observed being short and out right rude to several customers. He acted like he didn’t want to be bothered. He then was nasty to my 5 year old grandson and actually scared him over a package of baseball cards. He proceeded to be rude and short with me. I asked him if he knew the price of a toy and he blurted out a number. I asked if he could please check for me and he sighed and rolled his eyes at me. While he was ringing me out he had one sarcastic remark after another. When I paid him I accidentally gave him the wrong change and he insulted me . He said I cant understand how you mixed that up. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I informed him that he should not have a job working with the public and that he has a major attitude problem. I have never been treated so horribly at a store in my life. He told me he has a problem with children touching things they aren’t buying! I complained to the manger and told him I will not EVER be coming back. Evidently this employee hasn’t been there all that long and after some investigating I have learned he is always like this via other customers. I am not sure how he still has a job. He refused to give me his name and was not wearing any store ID. The manager at the store knows who he is. I am sure there have been other complaints. It is to bad as I and my family go to Benny’s quite frequently and I like to support small businesses. I will not be returning.

Hi I was at your Middletown RI store tonight around 6:30 with my ten year old daughter, one of the employees who I believe is named Cheryl, made several comments about believing in Santa and how he was not real, about 5 different personal stories about her son finding out Santa wasn’t real all while my 10 year old stood there. We got to the car and my daughter said mommy that lady said Santa was fake! I have never been so upset about the lack of common sense some people have. I plan on calling the stores manager in the morning. But I just thought I’d send you an email in hopes that this never ever happens to another family or child ever again. Very disappointing that anyone let alone a grown adult would ever say such things while a child is present. Thanks for your time.
