Curacao History

Curacao was founded in Burbank, California, in 1978 by current CEO Jerry Azarkman. Originally named La Curacao, the company was popular among lower income Hispanics who were unable to buy on credit. Curacao allowed clients to purchase items with only  down payment, then collect money from customers weekly.

Azarkman originally sold out of his home, as well as door to door sales. He spoke very little English and no Spanish at the time, but he learned quickly.  Azarkman is known for saying that courtesy and respect are languages everyone understands. Curacao opened its first store in the Pico district of Los Angeles in 1983.

Today, Curacao has more than 11 stores throughout Southern California, two stores in Arizona, with plans to expand to Texas and Nevada. Curacao employs more than 2,180 persons and annual revenue in 2014 of $2.5 million.

I made a purchase online and paid for 3 day expedited shipping and it’s been 6 days Andy the still haven’t finished processing my order. .? I’ve made about calls 30time since the third day and yet there still no idea of when I will be shipping my item

This company is so unprofessional what’s so ever I made an on line purchase for cyber Monday got the $199 deal on the PS4 well these people give me the round around on what’s going on with my order! I literally called them about 10 times and they don’t give me no updates on my order If it’s been shipped . I got the 3 day shipping and this Friday is going to be two weeks already . That purchase was my first and believe me it’s going to be my last really bad experience with this company never again !!

Well, the CSR, URIEL got the transaction cancelled and i was told would be billed to my curacao card. i will check in 2 hours.

call corporate office now (213) 386-4412. put on hold again. so I’m on hold on both my phones. talking to credit card dept rep. he states he will call the dept that has me on hold since 8:00am, on hold again without the horrible background music. the rep appears he is trying to help. he probably cant get through either. I’m gonna monitor their every move and document it while on the phone.

I been on hold with customer service for 1 hour and 3 minutes, trying to dispute charges on my personal credit card. my order was to be charged to my icuracao card. I started the call at 8:00 am. it is now 9:17 am. When I pay off my bill I will be closing my account. This is the second time being on hold for a long period of time. And I’m done.
The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!
I will now call my bank and dispute the charges.

I placed an order online for a microwave in February 2017, you people canceled my order for no reason, a month later I realized the charge was on my curaçao account. I have called several times to request this charge to be removed from my account. I never received the item. I have called several times, all you guys tell me is that you will send an email to the correct department but nothing gets done. I call back again and I get transferred around and put me on hold, after more than 1 hour on hold I had to hang up. This is ridiculous! I sent you guys an email and you reply with basically the same thing you guys tell me all the time “We have reviewed and escalated your request to our Ecommerce Department in regards to the purchased contract that was added on your sub account 50.” What do I need to do to get you guys to do your job? I don’t have time for this. What I am asking for is simple, please remove the charges for the online order I placed in February 2017, you guys were the ones that canceled my order. I never received the item. Please get this resolved asap.

I just purchased two beds and the delivery guys brung the wrong part to my house all I wanted Curaco to do was bring the right part so I can set up my bed and they’re acting like a**holes!!!!! Very poor customer Service they won’t have to worry about me being a long term customer .

I called the store to ask about a couch I had purchased a year ago they’re telling me the manufacturer warranty is up as of last year and they couldn’t come out to look at the couch the frame of the couch is built poorly is built with staples so I just needed someone to come out so they can repair the couch now you’re telling me that I didn’t buy extended warranty these couches was expensive for you guys to say that y’all could you send the one out to check on my merchandise…i would like someone to come out and like at the merchandise because I feel that you guys need to back your guys merchandise up and it’s unfair to the customer that I’m not even a full year out of the manufacturing warranty and no one can come out…my email is available to you guys if you have any concerns or questions…

My name is Diane Leguizamo phone number is 949439XXXX. I bought a mattress, foundation, and the nice plastic metal inside base almost 3.5 years ago. My baby started putting the mattress tag in his mouth which was causing the tag coloring to fall off so we decided the correct thing to do was to cut it off to avoid any lead poisoning or hospital stay since he was born with health conditions and is very fragile to certain things. I called December 28,2016 to see if we can get a replacement of the mattress and foundation due to manufacturing malfunctions like : mattress sinking and the wood of the foundation was broken. The technician came within the week and was very unprofessional saying “I need to take a leak where’s your restroom?” Ummm okay? “Hi to you too sir…” then he went on and stated in the service report that the tag was removed(true I explained myself why) then he said there was stains(sure barely any since I mean we went out of our way to buy a rug doctor to clean our mattress not knowing our insurance covered it nor did we ever receive our mattress cover when in the computer it says we did). He also said that we would receive a phone call within a few days…2 weeks passed no phone call until I called them. A lady answered and said we only have credit for the foundation and the mattress was still pending. I called a week later since my fiancée had more questions (delivery charge?, same foundation?, etc.) so I did & harry answered (Harbor store in Santa Ana) and he said that indeed we did have a credit for the foundation but they had denied coverage of the mattress dude to the stains and tag being removed? Really? I paid almost over $1000 for nothing then? I was so upset that I’m always very nice I didn’t want to give him a hard time since I work in the same industry I know how things work so I asked if there’s anything else they can do and he said “Let me send your claim to a secondary inspection but there’s no promises and someone was going to call me back on Thursday(Feb1?)”I called back within that same week because once again no phone call and Anahi from the same store answered and let me tell you she was SUPER RUDE and shouldn’t be working in a customer service industry if all she does is makes things worse. She said “Your mattress insurance has been cancelled due to the stains and the tag being removed.” Again I was very upset but was calm and said “Aren’t you folks suppose to contact the customer before you cancel it?” She said “Were mailing a letter out to you soon.” Very bluntly. I asked to speak to a manager & she said that no manager was available and she is going to expedite my claim and hung up! REALLY?!?! Never received a phone call from no manager. We went in the next day & talked to the manager Javier Peñalosa #4443 and was very nice and said he would try to work something out with us but I told him that I need to talk to my fiancé first so I left. We came back today 2-16 (I live 30mins away & with traffic 45mins) it took us around 45 mins to get there and we saw him and he was helping someone else out but never saw him again until a gentleman started to help us out (never got his name) and when it was time to call Javier over he was not in the store because “Something came up & if we could come back at 4pm he’ll be here.” Again REALLY?!? We drove for a very long time and my fiancée had to get the day off in order to come since we have opposite schedules and I work everyday at 4pm! I’m very upset and at this point I’m going to speak to our family lawyer to see what we can do because it seems like nobody is willing to help us and I threw my money away for no reason. Customer service is the worst there and best believe I will never go back unless something gets sorted out. I was a very great customer there that paid all her payments on time and quick.
