Owner and current CEO of Pet Food Express, Mark Levy, was not allowed to have pets as he grew up, so he started his own dog walking business instead when he was 11 years old. In 1976, Levy owned a dog training business in San Francisco, California. He wanted to open a store that offered both pet food, pet accessories, and dog training. Levy founded Pet Food Express in 1986. The company now has 61 stores throughout California.
The company does not sell pets from breeders, but has placed more than 61,000 homeless cats and dogs find new homes through their adoption program. Pet Food Express sells natural pet foods, high quality accessories, and states that they won’t sell anything that they would not personally use on their pets.
