Ackerman Security History

Ackerman Security was founded in 1967 by current CEO Bruce Turry, and has headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Turry was followed home one evening and was robbed, his house burglarized.  Rather than wish the police could have done something, Turry decided to make his own alarm company to help prevent this from happening to others.

Today, Ackerman Security offers home and business burglary alarms, security systems, video monitoring, and web enabled devices which can be operated from any smart phone, tablet, or computer. The company has more than 47,000 homes and business clients across the US and has seen tremendous growth over the past decade.

The Imperial Capital Group has acquired Ackerman Security in the early part of 2015.

I have been a customer for 13 plus years with Akerman and just receive and upgrade on my system on February 22, 2019. Will since the upgrade I notice my installment for March & April were not being deducted from my bank account . I called customer service to advise of the issue and the customer service Rep Breanna ask as if she had no clue of what happen to my account and claim they had no record of my Docsign from February. So I forward the copy to their department via email & fax . Now the customer service supervisor says it still not what they need. Will in the first place they should be questioning the Sales Rep Lucas Borough about why they do not have the paper work they need and not the customer. I call the office last week and requested Lula and the CS supervisor Marea Williams to call me but has yet to receive a call from either. Just receive a email from CS Sr Marea Williams on Saturday when I request a call not an email. This is the worse customer service I ever seen . At this point the CEO of the company needs to be told about this issue and if customers continue to receive bad service they will no longer have long term customers. I am now wishing I would have closed my account but was told by customer service Rep to give the company a chance before I decide to go to another provider. I made a bad mistake staying with Ackerman. Help…………………………

I have been a customer for several years. Doing business with Ackerman has been a total nightmare. I have been told that because my system is old it cannot be fixed. However they keep billing me for service contract. Several weeks ago your service man knocked out my phone service. I eventually consented to an upgrade. A technician arrived,. But had no idea what he was to. He blamed it on poor communication from Ackerman ,as he was just a contractor. I called Ackerman. They claimed service man was in error. They would send a quality tech. The next technician was no bett better. He too blamed Ackerman for poor communication. He was unable to complete install. Did not seem to be familiar with wi fi. He removed my sensors and took them with him. Left a mess and some equipment. I contacted Ackerman. They assured me they would return my sensors. That was a month ago. As yet I have not received. I have had enough.

lets first say I was contact by u , was told u could work around my credit set a appt up then for today then I get a phone call from the mgr of D.C. office told me I did not have a appt over talk me the said u was aowner of the company I need someone to call me when I complain to main number I was told they refused to come to my house , 540635XXXX paul hartman

Oh my God! This company is the worst. We’ve had it for less than a month and it’s already broke . No one calls you back. No one comes to the house when they say they will. Talk to people that answer the phone and they don’t have a clue. The chime on the door fell off. It was held on by a piece of black tape. I’m getting my attorney to file charges for false advertisement and whatever else I can sue them for. This is just horrible customer service and a horrible alarm system! Buyer beware..don’t use this system.

They just plain SUCK. Make appointments. You wait then they call and cancel
“ we are backed up”. The don’t care about customers
Call corporate office “ supposedly” and you wait all day

I represent Monica Jackson, a relative and client. I’m advised of the horrendous experience she is currently having with Ackerman Security Systems in Fairfax, Virginia. From what I have reviewed these Ackerman employees (i.e., service technicians, office administrators, customer service reps., etc.) are as unprofessional, less courteous and less skilled as any we have experienced in any business. And that Service Agreement, what a joke. Ackerman attempts to isolate themselves from customer claims when Ackerman simply knows how pitiful their service has become. The Better Business Bureau should be all over this company.. well a sad attempt to exist as accompany.

Ackerman installed my outdoor cameras on 7/28/17, since then they had to return for malfunctioning. They replaced the 4 cameras several months later. On October 1, 2017, I noticed a lot of drywall and wood shavings on the floor and there was wiring that had popped out of the wall, yet protruding . I didn’t know what it was, so I had to contract various people, electrician, structural engineer, finally my builder stopped over and told me it was Ackerman Security cameras outside of my window. I called Ackerman & they scheduled a technician to come out of 11/14/17, between 12noon and 3 pm.Then, Monday night they changed the appointment to 12-4 pm. At 4:08 pm, the technician Mario called & said he was across town in NW & would come soon. I had a 5 pm training in NW & told him I needed to be there. I asked if he could come on the following day, Wed, Thrs of Friday (11/15-17, before noon.He said he’d have to get back to me. He never did. In the meantime, my house has this penetration of water that caused the water to enter because Ackerman never sealed around the outdoor cameras. The wood inside the wall is wet, the insulation is wet & disintegrating, the drywall has cracked and with this much water to force the wired through the wood & drywall, I know I’m getting mold, a very expensive endeavor. I need ASAP the sealant around the cameras to stop the water because Sat it is scheduled to rain again – which will cause me more problems. Please send someone out during the daylight hours to seal beneath the cameras.

I signed up with Ackerman in Nov 2016 as I was told the service works great with VOIP but over the last year I have realized that I only get intermittent service. I called customer service several times and was told that they are aware of issues due to VOIP. They tried to sell me more expensive options and when I refused and asked for my contract to be cancelled they asked me to pay for 2 more years since there was a 3 year contract. How can a company force me to pay penalty when their own service does not work?
I would like someone to call me to resolve this.

The Key Pad that was installed in my home today was not the keypad I paid for. I’ve been unable to get in contact with anyone since it has been installed. This experience has been the most frustration experience I have ever encountered with any company .

I’m trying to get in touch with corporate because one of their employees that sold me the Security package knew that I only needed it for 1 year and what he told me I could do it and because I was moving to a state that they didn’t have services…I would be ok… just cancel without me paying any fees well this is the year and once I called them they gave me a hard time telling me that the policy changed and it’s subject to change so now they’re trying to charge me and everyone is giving me a hard time except the customer service rep that cannot help…there is no way for me to reach corporate hopefully someone will call me or contact me my email address is attached. This is horrible I pay my bill on time and sometimes early. Theres no way that I have to go through this I should have went to AD… he was trying to make a sale and I said to him I’ll just go to ADT if there’s a problem with me having you guys for one year because I have one year left on My ADT. He said no that’s not a problem you won’t have a hard time. So, he replied back to my email couple days ago stating that he was sorry that the policy changed. What kind of mess is that…hopefully someone from corporate will call me back or contact me back. I would just like to get everything rectified.

Since being back with Ackerman it has been problem after problem. I reactivated my system on good faith that the service had changed. I paid the past due balance on the faith that the representative said that the service was better. They upgraded my system and assured me that nothing would change. I haven’t had basement coverage since. They reactivated the system upstairs and did nothing for the basement it’s been over a month since I complained about this issue and I’m now being told that nothing can be done not unless I pay $89.95. I purchase this system from Ackerman in 2012 and upgraded to digital in 2016 it has not been a year and I have had piss poor service. This is unfair and rip off.
I spoke Michelle 5/11/17 a customer service representative that showed no compassion for my safety and she was short and rude. She was told to tell me that it’s nothing they can do by her supervisor Andrew. Not to mention they don’t keep records not notes of your call in to complain about the system. I have had several of calls and interaction with customer service reps that have helped me over the phone. Oh, Not Michelle and Andrew rude self’s. Let see will they be rude at another company when Ackerman has to cut stuff due to the business being low and cut back.
I will join forces with a long list of customer that will stand behind the movement to get Ackerman closed for good. This company and the commercial you run on TV is fraudulent and very deceiving. I feel as though this is unjust what I am experiencing.
Ackerman is a piss poor alarm system company and I will make it my business to let anyone that want an alarm system to not choose Ackerman. This company run gimmicks and they are fraudulent not to mention the customer service is poor. You train and send your agents out in the community to sale these systems and they do not tell you all the hidden shenanigans that’s in the contract. I’m very displeased with the customer service and the insulation that was done. I can’t even enjoy my system the way I use to, because the reactivation was done poorly, now you want me to pay for your technician’s poor work Ackerman a fraudulent company stay away go with ADT or another company as I should have done.

I experienced an outage last week that your company did not report to me. I called your dispatch requested to speak to a manager, duty manager or executive and was told everyone was busy.
I hung up on the rep called back in 15 min and was told you needed to check out the system and then I could speak to someone. I have been waiting over a week now with my system down to over 2 weeks. 404-428-XXXXX I have tried my best to keep this internal to Ackerman Security I just can’t believe you operate in this manner on a day to day basis. 404-428-XXXXX
