Paint Nite was founded in 2012 in Somerville, Massachusetts, by current co-owners Daniel Hermann and Sean McGrail. The company operates live, nightly events in which customers intermingle at local bars or clubs and paint their own work of art.
The idea for Paint Nite came after the pair attended a birthday party inside an art studio, which also offered beer and wine. The duo began their company with only $7,000 investment. Since its inception, the “paint and sip” industry has grown tremendously. The company had annual revenue in 2015 of $50 million, and boasts more than 2 million tickets sold.
Paint Nite is self funded as clients pay for their tickets at the door. Everything is included with the price of the ticket, except for food and drinks.
