Mike Salguero and friend Mike Filbey thought that finding quality, organic meat should be easier than hunting through various supermarkets to find it.
ButcherBox was founded in 2016. The company offers delivery of 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef, free-range organic chicken, heritage-breed pork, wild-caught Alaskan salmon, and wild-caught sea scallops.
Customers can custom order boxes with only one type of meat, or a selection of different types of meats. A subscription service is also available where boxes can be purchased on a monthly basis and shipped directly to a client’s home or a single box can be purchased at one time.
In November 2020, the company founder, Mike Salguero, was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young.
The company is receiving rave reviews from well-known sites and companies, such as Yahoo and HealthLine.
ButcherBox maintains a corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts.
