Fred Thomas founded Pinch a Penny Pool Supplies back in 1975. The company originally sold pool supplies for service-related businesses.
Soon, the company was asked about franchising and performing pool cleaning and maintenance, as well as offering supplies for those who want to “pinch a penny” and do it themselves.
Franchising began in 1976.
Today, Pinch a Penny Pool has more than 260 franchised locations. All staff and owners go through rigorous training and earn certification for pool operators.
Pinch a Penny has expanded into Texas, quickly becoming one of the fastest-growing franchises in the state, as well as opening franchises in Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia.
In November 2021, Pool Corp acquired Pinch a Penny for an undisclosed amount.
Stock advisor giant The Motley Fool says that investors in Pool Corp (NASDAQ: POOL) could see double or even triple their investments in 10 years.
In April 2022, Franchise Business Review listed Pinch a Penny as the top recession-proof franchise, with 99 percent of franchise owners saying they would recommend the franchise to a friend and that they were extremely happy with their investment.
