Frank Yang, an immigrant from Taiwan, decided he could make a better, cleaner trash can for the kitchen. SimpleHuman was founded in 2000 in Los Angeles, California.

The company designs, manufactures, and sells a variety of home items, many of them voice-activated, such as trash cans, soap dispensers, mirrors, and other items.

Yang originally named his company CanWorks, but as the company has evolved to include items other than trash cans, the name was changed.

History

While Yang mainly sold his products at retailers such as Bed Bath and Beyond and Home Depot, in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Yang decided that he should also sell his items on his website.

And like many companies, due to the interruption of the supply chain, SimpleHuman has found itself overwhelmed with orders, causing many items to become back-ordered.

In April 2021, Yang donated 3,000 touchless soap dispensers to local schools not only in an effort to fight the coronavirus but to test his product to see if it will last at least 150,000 cycles.

Nearly all reviews are positive, whether it’s trash cans or paper towel holders.

In November 2022, the company released a cell phone cleaner and sanitizer that cleans cell phones safely in 30 seconds.

Let’s Get Checked was founded in 2014. The company focuses on providing connectivity between customers and global laboratories for personal health testing.

Tests are mailed directly to consumers. The consumers order whichever tests they like and results are both mailed and sent to the client’s cell phone, however, a doctor will still need to be contacted to discuss the results.

History

In May 2020, the company announced that it had received $71 million in funding. One of the company’s biggest requests is for coronavirus testing. In 2020, Let’s Get Checked says that it shipped more than 1 million testing kits.

In April 2020, the popular website HealthLine named Let’s Get Checked one of the best coronavirus testing kits in the US.

The company offers a wide range of other types of testing, including female and male hormone levels, STD testing, and cortisol, diabetes, thyroid, liver, and even Lyme disease testing.

In March 2021, the company went public on the NYSE under the ticker symbol RBLX.

The company’s stock rose 60% on its first day of trading, adding to the wealth of founder and CEO David Baszucki by $4.6 billion.
