Bennigan’s was founded in 1976 in Virginia by Norman Brinker. The company is an Irish-pub type restaurant that features casual dining, American cuisine, and a full bar.

The company grew significantly in the 1980’s, with more than 150 corporate owned locations, 103 franchises, and some locations overseas. However, failure of the company to change and adapt to changing consumer tastes in food lead to serious problems for the chain. In 2008, the company filed for bankruptcy. All New York and New England locations were closed immediately, as well as the 150 corporate locations.

Bennigan’s was sold and restructured in 2010. Today, the company has 23 locations in 11 states, 39 locations globally. The new owners, Legendary Restaurant Brands, LLC, have plans to rebuild the chain through remodeling and improved marketing.

Knoebels Amusement Resort, often simply called Knoebels, was founded on July 4, 1928 by Henry Knoebel. Originally known as Peggy’s Farm, the Knoebel family farm had a small creek and swimming hole, which was popular with those seeking a picnic afternoon. Today, Knoebels has 63 rides, 6 roller coasters, and 2 water rides. The park offers free admission, with clients paying only for the rides they wish to enjoy and food. Unlike many other amusement parks, there is also free parking and free picnic facilities. Knoebels is still family owned and operated by the Knoebel family.

Earthlink was founded in 1994 by Sky Dayton in Pasadena, California. After trying to configure his own computer so that it could access the internet, Dayton decided to start his own dial up internet service. Within a one year period, Earthlink was offering dial up internet service to 95 cities. Earthlink was the first internet provider to allow unlimited access for one flat monthly fee. The company began offering internet service for businesses in 1996.

The company went public on the NASDAQ in 1997 under the ticker symbol: ELNK. In 1999, Earthlink was the first ISP to offer high speed DSL service.

Earthlink has made numerous acquisitions over the years, the most recent being CenterBeam, Inc. in 2013. The company has more than 2,100 employees and annual revenue in 2013 of $1.2 billion.

Fuddruckers was founded in 1979 by Philip Romano in San Antonio, Texas. Originally named Freddie Fuddruckers, the original location was an old bank that Romano converted into a restaurant. Romano believed America was in need of better hamburgers than what most restaurants offered. By 1988, there were 150 restaurants, however, Romano sold the chain as he felt he had gone as far as he could with hamburgers. Romano went on to found Romano’s Macaroni Grill.

After the 2008 recession, Fuddruckers was sold to Luby’s at an auction for $61 million.

Fuddruckers is a casual dining establishment that specializes in hamburgers of all types and sizes, including the famous Inferno burger and the half pound burger.

History

The company now has more than 77 restaurants and 111 franchises, along with locations in 11 countries, the most recent one opening in 2015 in Como, Italy.

The parent company of Fuddruckers, Luby’s, extended their contract to own and control Fuddruckers until at least February 2021.

On January 2,2020, Luby’s announced a partnership for delivery service between Fuddrucker’s and DoorDash.

Headquarters for Fuddruckers is located in Houston, Texas.

TripAdvisor is the largest online travel site in the world with more than 60 million members, 280 million visitors each year, and more than 170 client written reviews. The company was purchased in 2004 by the IAC/Interactive Corporation. In December of 2011, the company went public on the NASDAQ and is traded under the ticker symbol: TRIP.

Today, the company employs almost 3,000 persons and had annual revenue in 2014 of $1.24 billion. A survey done in August of 2014 by LJ Research found that TripAdvisor was the most recognized, used, and trusted travel website in the world.
