On The Border Mexican Grill recently revamped its children’s menu and launched a new to-go lunch program that features $5 Burrito Boxes. Burrito Boxes come with a large meat-filled or vegan option burrito, fresh chips, and salsa. Shrimp burritos are available for an extra charge.

On April 24, 2014, the chain was once again sold to another private equity firm by the name of Argonne Capital Group

The company claims to be the world’s largest Tex-Mex casual dining chain in the world.

In February 2023, the company announced a new seafood menu with a crab fiesta plate.

The couple wanted ice cream that was neither soft serve nor hard packed, but something quality that was in between these two. Cold Stone Creamery serves premium ice cream that is 12 to 14 percent butterfat based. Franchising operations began in 1995.

Today, the company has 300 locations in the US, as well as locations in 27 other countries. The company is the 6th largest seller of ice cream in the world. All flavors are made in house, as well as waffle cones, brownies, and ice cream “bowls”.

Cold Stone Creamery was acquired by the Kahala Group in May of 2007. The company had $1 billion in revenue in 2014.

Mimi’s Cafe was founded by Arthur Simms and his son Thomas in 1978. The original location was in Anaheim, California. The company is a chain of French/American style restaurants with a French chalet theme. The company was sold in 2013 to Group Le Duff, which also operate La Madeleine Country French Cafe restaurants.

Mimi’s Cafe has had their corporate office in Irvine, California, for 37 years, however, Group Le Duff recently moved the offices to Dallas, Texas.

The company currently has 145 locations in 24 states. New CEO Phil Costner has recently stated that he plans to return Mimi’s menu back to their original 1978 plan after lackluster sales.

Airbnb was founded in 2008 by roommates Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia. When the pair found that they were having trouble paying the rent on their expensive San Francisco apartment, they converted the living room into a “guest room” with three beds. They rented this space out to short-term renters and offered a homemade breakfast as well.

Airbnb offers vacation rentals from private individuals who rent out rooms, entire houses, or guest houses. Both hosts and guests post pictures and offer feedback afterward. This creative concept has been praised by many, however, it has seen a few problems, including a recent (May 2016) lawsuit brought about by a guest who says they were denied a reservation based on their race. A class action lawsuit was opened against Airbnb due to discrimination based on race in July 2017.

Airbnb lost nearly half of its value due to the coronavirus, which is also putting a damper on the expected opening of their IPO.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, Airbnb began pushing their virtual “home classes”, where property owners can not only highlight their rentals for later in the year, but they also feature some type of class, such as Korean cooking, yoga, or learning to play guitar.

The company now lists rentals in more than 191 countries, and 34,000 cities, and boasts more than 6 million guests.

History

Coco’s Bakery is a casual restaurant chain which features typical American cuisine, such as hamburgers, salads, and sandwiches, in addition to bakery items such as pies, cakes, and muffins. Bakery items are displayed in a case near the front door and can be purchased to go or they can be ordered by the piece to accompany meals.

The company currently has 57 locations in California, Arizona, and Nevada. Coco’s has been experiencing financial difficulties and shut down 38 locations without warning in April of 2015, soon after purchase by the Zensho Company.

In September 2018, it was announced that Shari’s Cafe & Pies had taken over Carrows Restaurants and Coco’s Bakery.
