Carrabba's Italian Grill

Carrabba’s Italian Grill was founded in Houston, Texas, in 1986 by “Johnny” Charles Carrabba, III and his uncle Damian Mandola.

In January 1993, in a joint venture with Outback Steak House, 10 new Carrabba’s locations were opened in Florida and Texas.

As of 2013, there were more Carrabba’s restaurants in Florida—home to parent company Bloomin’ Brands’ corporate headquarters—than any other state in the United States.

History

Many menu items came from recipes created by Damien’s mother, Grace, and his sister Rose.

In 2020, the company opened its first restaurant in Canada.

In 2021, Bloomin Brands bought out the founders of Carrabba’s Italian Grill in a royalty termination agreement. As part of the agreement, the founders kept their original two locations in Houston.

In November 2023, Carrabba’s launched its first mobile phone app, offering a free dessert with every order.

In December 2023, Carrabba’s began offering catering services at certain locations.

Paul Russo, a native New Yorker from Queens, didn’t think it would be so difficult to find a genuine slice of New York-style pizza when he moved to Orlando, Florida, in 1990.

After several years of frustration, Russo opened his first pizza restaurant, featuring genuine NY pizzas by the slice or by the pan in 1996.

Franchising started shortly after. Since opening, NYPD Pizza has won more than 30 “Best of” Awards across the nation.

History

For those who might think this was a rip-off of the New York Police Department name, Russo is quick to point out that the name is New York Pizzeria and Deli.

The company specializes in genuine New York-style pizzas as well as chicken wings, garlic knots, mozzarella sticks, and sandwiches, such as the Eggplant Parmigiana Hero.

There are currently 5 NYPD locations in the greater Orlando area.

Baboush was an idea in the mind of Yaser Kalif long before he ever thought about coming to America. As a child growing up in Morocco, Kalif longed to try to make some of the delicious dishes that his mother and relatives would create.

After attending college in Kentucky, Kalif opened a pizza shop but his heart was still in Morocco. After meeting his future wife, Kalif moved to Texas, where he opened Baboush, a Moroccan restaurant in Dallas, Texas.

Kalif also operates a sister restaurant in Dallas named Medina. Baboush and Medina are both dedicated to the customer experience. While Kalif created the menu and the recipes on the menus, he no longer cooks for his restaurant.

History

In June 2023, a customer uploaded a video to TikTok stating that she had been discriminated against after being asked to leave the restaurant because she was wearing shorts. Baboush has apologized for the incident and has fired the employee.

USA Today listed Baboush as one of the best restaurants in the USA.

Jenni Kayne is a real person who has constructed her own brand and lifestyle known as California Casual.

Founded in 2002 in Los Angeles, Jenni Kayne has more than tripled her business over the past 20 years.

Jenni Kayne offers women’s fashion, home decor, even furniture items for fans who want to recreate the casual, laid-back style that California is known for.

History

In November 2021, Kayne said that she was considering going public, but wanted to wait at least until the Covid epidemic had passed.

In late 2022, the brand rolled out patio, garden, and outdoor decor for home gardens.

Jenni Kayne, in addition to her popular e-commerce site, currently has 16 retail locations with plans to open 5 more outlet locations over the next year.

Three of the current stores – in Soho, New York City, and Brentwood and Montecito in California are dedicated strictly to home goods and furniture. . Another new homeware store is planned for Westport, Connecticut.

Wi Spa was founded in 2008 in the Little Korea neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Owner/founder Kai Li Lee wanted to recreate a Korean day spa but with a touch of luxury.

While the spa is technically listed as a day spa, it is open 24 hours and guests can stay all night, if they wish.

The spa has 4 floors; a women-only floor, men- only floor, a family floor, and the roof, which is for non-bathing purposes. No bathing suits or clothing are allowed on the men and women-only areas but bathing suits are worn for the family floor and comfortable clothing on the roof.

History

The Wi Spa experience is one where people can relax, be pampered, and release stress. The company offers hot and cold tubs, saunas both wet and dry, salt and clay saunas, massage therapy, and more.

In June 2021, a person posted on their TikTok account that the spa had allowed a person with a penis to be on the women’s-only floor. The staff stated that they were aware of the incident and that they had been under the impression that the person was transgender, but did not know that the person had not completed their surgery.

Many guests enjoy the spa so much, they spend entire weekends enjoying what each room has to offer.
