Pizza My Heart was founded in 1981 in Capitola, California, by Fred Poulos and Keith Holtaway. The company operates a chain of pizza restaurants in northern California.

History

The original idea was to create a chain of pizza restaurants that had an urban, east coast style, something that was unusual at the time. Since the chain was sold to the current owner and CEO Chuck Hammers, the theme has been changed to a retro-Hawaii style, with surfing videos, surfboards, old surfing photos on the walls, and beach-style music, such as hits from The Beach Boys.

The company sells pizzas, salads, breadsticks, and chicken wings with various sauces. Some locations offer vegan pizzas and/or gluten-free pizzas. Currently, the company says that it has no plans to offer franchises, but rather, intends to open a few new locations every year.

In 2023,  CEO Chuck Hammers attended President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address in Washington, D.C.

Miller’s Ale House was founded in 1988 by Claire and Jack Miller in Jupiter, Florida. The company operates a chain of casual American food restaurants in the southeastern part of the US.

History

Today, Miller’s Ale House has 103 locations; most in Florida. Nation’s Restaurant News shows that the average Miller’s Ale House location grosses $4.1 million each year and the chain’s revenue in 2002 was more than $125 million.

The company has a wide-ranging menu as well as an extensive beer and alcoholic drink menu. Most locations offer steak, plates of pasta, salads, and signature dishes, such as Zingers, hand-breaded chicken breast strips, served with sauce, celery sticks, and blue cheese or ranch dressing.

Miller’s Ale House continues with its aggressive expansion plan with new locations opening every few months.

Most locations are now offering Brunch 7 days a week.

Pharmavite was founded in 1971 by Oluwason Henry Burdick and Barry Pressman. The company makes vitamin and mineral supplements under the brand name Nature Made, as well as a soy based snack bar called SOY JOY.

The company was purchased in 1989 by Japanese based pharmaceutical company Otsuka. Pharmavite remains based in the US and had headquarters in Northridge, California. The main manufacturing plant is located in San Fernando, California. In 2013, a new plant, which makes softgels and gummy vitamins, opened in Opelika, Alabama.

Pharmavite participates in the USP Dietary Supplement Verification Program, which performs random tests for quality, purity, and potency, by conducting tests on products chosen directly off of store shelves.

History

Originally intended only for industrial use, the company designed a more streamlined product for homemakers. The company expanded into other home appliances in 1949, beginning with dishwashers. Today, the company produces numerous products for the kitchen, including mixers, refrigerators, freezers, electric kettles, stoves, ovens, microwaves, and their original stand-alone mixer, which now comes in a wide range of colors, including purple. ka 6

Today, KitchenAid operates as a subsidiary of Whirlpool. Some appliances are made in the US, others in China. The metal components of the company’s mixer are made at various plants around the world but are hand finished in the US to ensure smooth operation.

Every KitchenAid mixer since the introduction of the Model “K” has allowed for cross-generational attachment compatibility, meaning that attachments from the 1930s can be used on modern mixers, and vice versa.

In September of 2018, Forbes listed KitchenAid as one of the most trusted brands in the US.

The company is a credit union, which offers financial services in the state of California, mainly Southern California. Up until 1999, membership was restricted to the telecommunications industry.
