Brian’s Bar-B-Q was founded in 1985 in DeLand, Florida, by current owner and CEO Brian Hill. Hill purchased Barney’s BBQ and reopened it with his name. The company operates a popular BBQ restaurant.

The company is different from other BBQ restaurants as the cooks are actually trained chefs who are certified by the Kansas City BBQ Society and often serve as judges in local competitions. Steaks and ribs are cut by hand, dressing recipes for salads are made by hand, and all BBQ sauces and marinades are made fresh each day by hand.

Brian’s Bar-B-Q did renovations, including a new roof, air conditioning, insulation and upgraded windows in 2012. The company also offers catering, sells their BBQ sauce in bottles for customers who want to take the flavor home with them, and offers daily specials every day except Friday and Saturdays.

Merry Maids was founded in 1979 in Omaha, Nebraska, by Dallen Peterson and his family. They began with their own cleaning service and started franchising the following year. The company operates a franchised house cleaning service.

History

The company was purchased by Service Master in 1988 and operates as a subsidiary. The company currently has approximately 1,450 franchises across the US and Canada. The company is best known for performing many cleaning jobs that other companies won’t do, including cleaning inside ovens, washing windows inside and outside, as well as cleaning inside refrigerators and cabinets.

Merry Maids is the largest cleaning franchise in the world. In September of 2016, the company was named the top performing franchisor at a convention held in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In September 2021, Merry Maids celebrated Housekeeping Week and honored those who work in the housekeeping profession.

Also in 2021, Bob Villa of This Old House listed Merry Maids as one of the Best Home Organization and Cleaning Services.

The company began franchising operation in 2013. Currently, there are 98 locations in 19 states. Owners state that they have 400 franchises in various stages of completion. The company pulled all but 2 locations in Illinois, closing 8 or the 9 location in Chicago due to heavy competition. In 2015 alone the company opened 50 locations.

History

The company is owned by the RAVE restaurant group and operates as a subsidiary. The new CEO, Scott Crane, recently left Smashburger to operate the pizza chain and hopes to increase sales.

The company announced the opening of their first franchise in the state of Oregon in July 2019.

Pie Five Pizza offers four different crusts, including classic pan, crispy thin, gluten-free, and traditional Italian. In addition to pizza, the company offers salads and desserts, as well as beer in most locations.

Scott Crane, just appointed as CEO in 2017, was ousted in mid-2019. A new CEO has yet to be named.

History

The company currently has 40 locations, most of them in Texas. The size of each location varies, but most have gas stations for large trucks and cars, but not for 18-wheelers. Many locations also offer car washes. The largest Buc-ee’s opened in 2012 and it features 120 fuel pumps, 83 restrooms, 31 cash registers, and 80 fountain drink dispensers. This location in New Braunfels also sells water gear and inner tubes for those enjoying the nearby Guadalupe River.

Buc-ee’s is perhaps best known for its entertaining billboards found on highways throughout Texas. Billboards with slogans such as “Ice, Beer, and Jerky, the 3 Food Groups” and “Don’t Pass Our Gas” are common.

In September 2022, the company announced that it would start construction of the first Buc-ee in Missouri in the town of Springfield.
