Orchard Supply Hardware, often referred to as OSH, is a chain of home improvement, gardening, and hardware stores in the US. Founded in 1931 as Orchard Supply Farmers Co-Op, the company originally was made up of a group of 30 fruit tree farmers who put up $30 to purchase much-needed supplies during the Great Depression.
Today, Orchard Supply Hardware is a subsidiary of Lowe’s, and has more than 91 locations in the US, along with approximately 5,400 full-time employees.
The company has launched a new program called OSHbots, which are robot employees. These moving robots have LCD screens, 3D cameras, and speak both English and Spanish. The OSHbots can identify items brought in by customers and take them to where replacement items are or customers can research more products or similar products directly on the robot itself. This is a pilot program originally introduced in Lowe’s stores in 2014.
Parent company Lowe’s closed out all Orchard Hardware Supply stores at the end of 2018.

i would like to say that OSH is a good store but, they do not hire people that they need, they hire people that they feel will be a good fit. I have been in retail over 14 years and have received many awards but i have never been able to get hired by osh. I have been to 3 or 4 osh job fairs where the interviewer will ask you a couple questions then they will say that they will be hearing back. Of course, you never will hear back. I am not trying to brag but i have increased the average ticket, resolved customer conflicts and i am reliable and honest. What i am looking for is a position that can lead into something and not take years to do it.

Usually I’m very pleased with the service at your Orchard store, but lately you customer service has really disappeared.
Here is the incident that has soured our household to Orchard and consequently Lowes. We joined club orchard because we were enticed by the fact that this would save us from saving our receipts for purchases. We regularly buy on average about 5k in good from Orchard per year, many plants. We were also seduced by the lifetime guarantee for plants, as we buy our plants throughout the year.
Whatever the issue, Orchard supply will no longer “honor” their “printed in writing policy” for lifetime guarantee for plants. There are now conditions that customer like me are not aware of until you get to the store. This is especially true for the Orchard Store located on Prospect Rd. in San Jose. Apparently the Store Manager has told the clerks at the front desk the following. 1. You must have a receipt. Okay check, but I thought being a Club Orchard member took care of that. Answer “NO”. 2. Secondly you must return the plant in original pot with the Orchard stock tag attached. Okay, check. 3. You can only exchange for another similar plant. Oh okay, this is the problem. Same price, same stock number, Well the plants change per season. Stock numbers also change as do prices. So you have to keep your old dead plants till the next season, and hopefully the next season Orchard will come out with the same plants, prices and stock numbers. That is unlikely!
So if this is the new policy, then state it in writing. Don’t lie to customers saying that Club Orchard will eliminate the need to save receipts for plants. Also state the plants can be exchanged for the same plants “only if they carry them”. Thus eliminating the lifetime guarantee. The Store Manager “Flor” was just completely anti-customer service just shrugged her shoulders when told this. Then when I stated I’d like to write the Corporate offices about this “unwritten change” to Lowes. She stated we are still Orchard, and have our own corporate office and CEO. Then walked away.
We will find a substitute for Orchard soon enough.

Corporate: totday we visited your store at 2800 Sisk Road in Modesto CA 95350 …. you have an outstanding manager there. LINDA. See we experienced poor service at the register. I decided to just not take the $83.70 purchase. The same rude register person directed me to refund desk where i found the mgr. I explained that i just purchased items but because of the snarky attitude at the register i decided to shop elsewhere. Linda was immediately apologetic and sincere. My husband then walked up and said “hey…your the one that asked if i was okay earlier”……when he said how she was concerned it made her that much more valuable….my husband hasnt felt well and it was good to experience such care in your mgt. Pleas applaud Linda for outstanding representation of your OSH STORES. Liz Acostza

I sent you a comment regarding the service policy of the manager at the Paso Robles store I received on Aug. 16th and have received no reply. I guess your attitude is the same as the condition of the rusted tools you display on your recent catalog.
Thanks alot!

I tried to get a replacement of an eleven foot umbrella from the Paso Robles Orchard Store that was purchased there two and a half years ago The metal sleeve connecting the two parts of the the pole were no longer supporting the umbrella. The store manager only offered to give me 10% off on the purchase of a new umbrella,or give me some epoxy to repair it myself. Your new umbrellas have been redesigned to correct this defect with an entirely different metal sleeve. The rest of the umbrella is in excellent condition, the cover still looks as good as new.
I was very disappointed in the lack of customer concern as I have made several large purchases in this same period, two fountains and another large umbrella.
