Sara Lee Corporate Office

Charles Lubin started a bakery chain in Chicago and named it Kitchens of Sara Lee, after his daughter.

Consolidated Foods bought Kitchens of Sara Lee in 1956 from Charles Lubin.

The company changed its name to The Sara Lee Corporation in 1985.

In 1986 Sara Lee bought Wolferman’s, a maker of English Muffins, which was founded in 1888.

In 2005 Sara Lee began a multi-year plan to transform the company into one focused on food, beverage, and household and body care businesses globally.

In 2006 Sara Lee spun off the Branded Apparel into a separate publicly-traded company named HanesBrands Inc.

In 2009 Sara Lee sold its global body care and European detergents business to Unilever.

In 2010 Grupo Bimbo sold its North American Fresh Bakery unit in a $959 million deal.

In 2011 the company announced that it would split into two: the North American operations became Hilshire Brands and the international beverage and bakery business D.E. Master Blenders 1753.

As of 2020, the company no longer an independent company but the name is still sold as a subsidiary of Kohlberg.

In 1995 the company invented the first blow-molded picnic table in 1995. More blow-molded items followed.

In 2010 Lifetime Products acquired Dragonfly Innovation Corp, a producer of blow-molded kayaks. The kayaks are popular because they are designed not to flip over.

Today the company has the largest single-point blow molded plastics facility in North America. The company’s products are available in more than 70 countries worldwide. In the United States products are available in Sports Authority, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Modell’s, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Costco, BJ’s, Home Depot, Lowe’s and more.

Founded by Carlyle Weinberger in Chicago in 1945, the company’s specialty was wooden furniture made by local companies, which was resold to larger furniture stores.

In 2016, annual company revenue reached $3.85 billion.

The Ashley Furniture Homestore chain is composed of both corporate-owned stores and independently owned stores with licenses to sell Ashley Furniture products exclusively. Ash 5 The chain is popular with young persons and newly married couples, mostly due to liberal credit policies with Synchrony Bank.

Today Ashley Furniture manufactures and distributes home furniture throughout the world. The company maintains plants across the United States and also operates several factories (including its largest) in Pacific Rim countries such as Vietnam and China. In addition to those,  they also have a sourcing office in India, Vietnam, Southern China, Muar, the furniture hub of Malaysia and Taiwan.

The company went public in 1998 with 47 stores.

Today Restoration Hardware sells upscale home and outdoor furnishings, garden products, bath-ware, hardware, lighting, textiles, and baby and child products through 85 retail and outlet stores in 30 states, the District of Columbia, and Canada.

40% of the company’s sales are through catalog and e-commerce sales.

In 2008 Restoration Hardware was taken private by Catterton Partners and Tower Three Partners and went public again in 2012.

Restoration Hardware has 6500 employees and had $3.76 billion in revenue in 2021.

The company, rebranding as RH, also owns 14 restaurants that are located inside their store locations, including San Francisco, California, Dallas, Texas, and the new location recently opened in Santa Barbara, California.
