Bally Total Fitness Corporate Office

Bally Total Fitness began in 1983 when Bally Manufacturing purchased Lifecycle and the Health and Tennis Corporation of America.  The Bally Health and Tennis Corporation was formed.

By 1987, Bally’s was the largest fitness center chain in the world.  The chain acquired American Fitness Centers and Nautilus Fitness Centers.

In 1995, all brands were renamed to Bally Total Fitness.

By 1996, there were 340 fitness centers in the US and Canada.

In 1998, the company went public on the NYSE.

In 2007, the company filed for bankruptcy.  The chain was purchased by Harbinger Capital and emerged from bankruptcy.

In 2008, the company again filed for bankruptcy, citing the global economic downturn.

In 2010, the chain was investigated by the Texas attorney general for mailing fake past-due notices to old members in an attempt to get them to re-join the club.

In 2011, the chain sold 171 gyms to LA Fitness.

In 2012, the chain sold 39 gyms to Blast Fitness.

Today, Bally’s operates 60 fitness centers in the US.

Today, 24 Hour Fitness is the world’s largest privately owned fitness chain.  The company has over 420 clubs in 18 states and serves more than 3 million members.

Jamba Juice Corporate Office

Jamba Juice was founded in 1990 as Juice Club, Inc. by Kirk Perron.  The first location was in San Luis Obispo, California.  Three of Perron’s friends, Joe Vergara, Kevin Peters, and Linda Ozawa Olds, soon joined the venture.

In 2008, the company begins to introduce wraps, sandwiches, and salads to its menu.

Today, Jamba Juice operates over 860 stores in 26 US states, Canada, the Philippines, and South Korea.  About half the stores are corporately owned.

The company is known for introducing new flavors that become quite popular. The trendy new flavors of 2022 are Strawberry Bursting Boba and Sweet Tapioca Boba Pearls.

Jamba Juice, like many other restaurant chains, is having trouble with staffing…or are they? Jamba Juice says that price increases are necessary in order to hire talent but people say that their applications are routinely rejected.
