Zeltiq was founded in 2005 as Juniper Medical, Inc., by Mitch Levinson, who had previously led Thermage, and Scott Wolf.  The company changed its name to Zeltiq in July 2007.

The company uses a medical device to “freeze” fat cells. For the clinics that use it, there is a high capital investment, and a room is tied up for a relatively long time.

‘Ultrahuman Air’ is a separate wearable smart ring that captures passive biometric health information through built-in sensors in the ring that track sleep, movement, and recovery data.

As of this writing, the company has raised $25 million between seed funding and round A funding.

As of December 2023, the company remains subscription-free, unlike the Oura Ring.

In 2024, the company plans to introduce many new hardware products and software updates, such as the ability to perform blood tests at home.

In November 2023, Oura Ring sued Ultrahuman Ring over copyright infringement.

No one has reported any injuries or health-related problems and Biomic Sciences voluntarily recalled their products.
