Sirius XM Corporate Office

SiriusXM Radio was the result of a controversial 2007 merger between Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio.  XM Radio was first established in 1988 as the American Mobile Satellite Corporation.  The company established a division in 1992 which eventually became XM Radio.  Their satellite service initially launched in 2001.  A year later, in 2002, Sirius Satellite Radio launched.

In 2009, DirecTV acquired 40% of SiriusXM.  The company also raised their rates in 2009.

In 2011, the company dropped BBC Radio 1 with no advance notice.

SiriusXM currently serves more than 18.5 million subscribers in the US and Canada.

Jelly Belly Corporate Office

The Jelly Belly jelly bean was invented by David Klein.  In 1976, Klein approached the Herman Goelitz Candy Company and asked them to produce a gourmet jelly bean for him which would be known as a Jelly Belly.

In 1980, the Goelitz Candy Company purchased Jelly Belly from Klein.

The Jelly Belly gained national exposure as it was a favorite treat of President Ronald Reagan.

The Goelitz Candy Company eventually changed their name to the Jelly Belly Candy Company.

Today, the company produces over 37 million pounds of candy each year.

Waste Management can trace its roots back to the 1890s in Chicago, Illinois when Ham Huizenga began hauling trash in the back of his wagon.

In 2002, Mattel closed its last factory in the USA (Fisher-Price) and moved all toy making to China.  In 2007, Mattel recalled over 18 million toys including Dora the Explorer and Sesame Street due to lead based paints used in China.

Mattel is currently the world’s largest toy manufacturer.  They produce many highly popular brands including Fisher-Price, Barbie dolls, Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars.

eHarmony.com was founded in 2000 by current CEO Dr. Neil Clark Warren.  Dr. Warren is a psychologist and author of relationship books.  He founded the site with his son-in-law, Greg Forgatch.

In 2004, the company received funding from Sequoia Capital.  The investment was the fourth largest in venture capital history.

In June 2012, the company’s database was hacked and many user passwords were stolen.  Affected members were emailed and asked to change their password.

After a series of lawsuits, the company launched a website (Compatible Partners) for same sex couples.

The company currently serves over 33 million members.  Over 15,000 people take their compatibility quiz daily.

In one report, eHarmony and other dating sites experienced explosive growth during the pandemic of 2020/2021. 

Another study completed in November 2021 found that people who used dating services such as eHarmony and got married were more likely to get divorced.
