The company operates a fast food, casual restaurant chain which offers frozen custard, steakburgers, hamburgers, French fries, Vienna beef hot dogs, blended sundaes, and a wide variety of desserts including funnel cake.

From a single location in Wichita, Kansas, there are now more than 150 locations throughout the US. The company has plans for expansion, with a new location opening in Shiloh, Illinois, around December of 2016.

Bill Simon passed away from cancer in 2016.

The company currently has 380 locations in 30 US states and several in the Middle East.

Winchell’s Donuts was founded in Temple City, California in 1948 by Verne Winchell. Previously purchased by Denny’s restaurant chain, it was sold again in 2004 to Yum Yum! brands.

Today, Winchell’s Donuts has more than 170 locations and has franchises in several other countries, including Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Guam. The company offers more than 70 types of donuts, including raised, cake, crullers, buttermilk, and jelly donuts. Winchell’s donuts is also known for giving 14 donuts in a “dozen”, rather than the typical 13 baker’s dozen. In addition, the company also offers muffins, scones, and bagels. The company also has a wide variety of beverages, many more so than the usual donut shop.

Abbott’s Frozen Custard Corporate Office

Abbott’s Frozen Custard was founded in 1902 by Arthur Abbott. Abbott would travel to carinvals and fairs to sell his frozen custard as a means of supporting his interest in horse racing. The first store was located in Rochester, New York in 1926, directly across from Ontario Beach Park.

Today, Abbott’s Frozen Custard has locations in 5 states. The company was purchased by Leonard and Thelma Schreiber in 1957. Franchising operations began the following year. There are several franchises in Japan that opened in 1999 and in 2006, several Krispy Kreme outlets began offering Abbott’s Frozen Custard at their locations.

Arthur Abbott never lost his love for race horses and it paid off for him in 1952 when his horse Blue Man won the Preakness Stakes.

The company won Best Ice Cream/Frozen Yogurt/Frozen Custard award by City Newspaper’s Best Of Rochester Awards in 2015.

Burgerville, originally called Burgerville USA, was founded in 1961 in Vancouver, Washington, by George Propstra. While this burger chain might sell the usual hamburgers, French fries, onion rings, and shakes, this chain is very different from other burger restaurants. Ocean State Job Lot was founded in 1977 by current CEO Marc Perlman and his brother Alan in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The company is a chain of discount department stores offering everything from food to beach chair, patio plants to swimsuits.

The company has 133 locations in the New England states, including New York and New Jersey. Ocean State Job Lot typically offers name brand and big brand merchandise that is discounted due to overstock, out of season, or discontinued styles. The company also offers new, but not overstock or clearance items, that it maintains stock levels of on a regular basis.
