Marshalls Corporate Office

Founded in 1956 by Alfred Marshall, who envisioned a discount brand name clothing store. Marshall, along with several other investors, opened Marshalls and Associates in Beverly, Massachusetts. This store was unique in its day as not only were shoppers able to find deeply discounted brand name clothing, but it was one of the first “find it yourself ” stores, where sales clerks did not offer one on one service.

The company was very successful and by 1966, had grown to become the leading discount retail chain in the US. By purchasing manufacturers over-runs, closeouts, or out of season merchandise, the company can offer discounts of 20 to 60 percent.

Today, Marshalls is a subsidiary of TJX Companies. The company currently has 975 locations throughout the US and 38 locations in Canada, with 6 of these stores being opened in 2015.

Free People Clothing Boutique Corporate Office

Free People Clothing Boutique, frequently called Free People, was founded in the early 1970’s by Dick Hayne and his wife Judy. Hayne wanted a store where people could purchase less than traditional clothing. Today, most people refer to this style of clothing as “bohemian”. The company was quite successful, especially with the younger generation. After opening a second location, Hayne decided to change the name to Urban Outfitters.

Urban Outfitters was very successful. Hayne again decided to make a change and open a subsidiary, which he renamed Free People. The Free People Clothing Boutique opened its “first” location in 2002 in Paramus, New Jersey. Today, Free People has m,ore than 81 locations in the US, along with 2 additional locations in Canada.

The company recently opened its own app where people can not only purchase their clothing directly via the app, but they can upload photos of themselves wearing Free People clothing.

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood Corporate Office

Founded in 2000 by Jim VanDercook and Guy Viavaso in Austin, Texas. The company grew quickly and by 2011 had 8 locations in and around the greater Austin area.

The company was purchased in 2011 for $59 million to Darden Restaurants, Inc. Although Eddie V’s also owns the “Roaring Fork” restaurants, those were not part of this transaction. As of 2016, there are now 13 Eddie V’s locations.

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood restaurants are known for their elegant, yet laid back atmospheres, which include leather sofas, wood beam ceilings, and live jazz bands in many locations. The company offers premium steaks as well as a wide variety of seafood fare.

Darden Restaurants last purchase was the Longhorn Steakhouse brand in 2007.

Founded in 1854 by William Dierberg, this popular grocery chain is one of the oldest, privately-held grocery stores in America. What began as a small general merchant on Olive Street has turned into one of the dominant grocery chains in the St. Louis area.

In addition to the usual grocery items, the company also operates one of the largest FTD floral delivery services in the US. It is ranked number one in Missouri, and number nine in the nation out of 20,000 FTD florists. Company headquarters is in Chesterfield, Missouri, and the current CEO is Greg Dierberg.

The Christmas Cottage was founded in 1985 by husband and wife team Paul and Diane Prianti. Originally, the company had several temporary locations set up during the holiday season in the area of 5th Avenue or Rockefeller Center. Today ,the company has a year round permanent location on 7th Avenue, between 55th and 56th streets, which they established in 1997.

The company is known for delivering and setting up Christmas trees in the home of clients within two days after ordering. This is a unique offering. The Christmas Cottage states that it is the oldest Christmas and collectible shop in Manhattan. The company also has an online eCommerce site.
