The company was acquired by TBC Retail Group in 1996. TBC Retail Group was then acquired by Sumitomo Corporation of America in 2005. Sumitomo is one of the world’s largest producers of consumer goods, including tires.

Big O Tires was part of a landmark decision in a lawsuit against GoodYear Tires over their use of the word “BigFoot Tires.” Goodyear lost the decision and Big O Tires was originally awarded $19.6 million, although this amount was later reduced in an appeal decision.

Big O Tires had annual revenue in 2014 of $1.6 billion.

In February 2023, Big O Tires took the #1 spot on the Entrepreneur’s Top 500 Franchise list.

Founded in 1927 by E.L. Bruce, Terminix has evolved to become one of the biggest pest control companies in the world. Originally founded to stop termites from damaging wood floors, Bruce laboratories created the first termiticide. This product was unique as it was designed to only kill termites, unlike other pesticides. The company began franchising in 1955 and in 1957 became the first company to provide annual inspections and guarantees.

Today, Terminix is a subsidiary of ServiceMaster Global Holdings, Inc. The company employs almost 9,000 persons and had annual revenue in 2015 of $1.45 billion.

Terminix operates in 47 states in the U.S., as well as 22 countries around the globe. The company works with both commercial and residential buildings to remove common pests such as rats, mice, cockroaches, termites, ants, and spiders. Terminix also offers mosquito and bed bug treatments.

On September 15, 2020, the parent company of Terminx announced that it was changing the name from ServiceMaster Global Holdings to Terminix Global Holdings. This also changes the ticker symbol to TMX.

ServiceMaster is selling all other brands to Roark in a $1.553 billion dollar deal. 

In October 2022, British extermination company Rentokil acquired Terminix for $6.7 billion. It is unknown if the company will rebrand.

What began as a local car rental service, quickly became, under Netterstron’s leadership, a franchise with more than 100 locations by 1987. The company purchased Holiday Rent a Car that same year. Payless was the first auto rental company to operate an automated central reservation system.

Payless Car Rental was purchased by Avis Rent a Car in 2013 and now operates as a subsidiary of this company. Today, Payless Car Rental has more than 80 locations in 20 countries, and an estimated 10,000 vehicles.

In March of 2009, the company was added to Expedia’s group of preferred vehicle rental companies. The company also offers service through Orbits, JetBlue, Travelocity, and Priceline.Com.

In  May 2020, a federal judge nixed the arbitration clause, which forces the parent company, the Avis Budget Group, to face a class action lawsuit claiming the company charged renters for unauthorized products and services.
