Which Wich Superior Sandwiches was founded by current CEO Jeff Sinelli in Dallas, Texas, in 2003. The company began franchising in 2005. Sinelli is the founder of Genghis Grill. He wanted to make a sandwich shop that was different from the others. Which Wich Sandwiches offers a wide variety of sandwiches and salads.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House Corporate Office

Ruth’s Chris Steak House is a chain of upper-scale restaurants and is the largest luxury steak house of its kind in the U.S. Founded in 1927 in New Orleans by Chris Matulich, Chris Steak House was located near the Fairgrounds race track. Ruth Fertel purchased the restaurant in 1965 and renamed it. Fertel’s original staff was made up of single mothers because Fertel believed they worked harder to support their families. The company began franchising in 1977.

The restaurant is best known for extremely thick prime steaks and seafood.

While many other premium restaurants suffered for business during the Covid crisis of 2019-2022, Ruth’s Chris extended leases and opened new locations.

In November 2023, the company offered Thanksgiving dinners for foster children. 

Today, Ruth’s Chris Steak House has 130 locations and employs approximately 6,100 persons full-time. The company continues to add new locations, such as the one located inside Harrah’s Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2013 and Denver, Colorado, that same year. There are also plans to open locations in China.

Most locations are open for dinner only. The company also offers catering and wedding services.

Baskin-Robbins was founded in 1945 by two brothers-in-law, Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins. These two partners decided to merge their two ice cream parlors into one chain. The original Baskin-Robbins was located in Glendale, California, and was called 31 Flavors, something that was unique at the time. In 1970, Baskin-Robbins was the first company to sell ice-cream cakes.

Big Boy Restaurant was founded in 1936 in Glendale, California by Bob Wian. The original name was Bob’s Pantry and quickly became known as “Bob’s” and “Home of the Big Boy Hamburger.” By 1967, the restaurant chain had changed its name to Bob’s Big Boy Restaurant.

The company filed for bankruptcy in 2000 and was purchased by investor Robert Liggett, Jr. Liggett changed the name to Big Boy Restaurant. Soon after the sale, Liggett made an agreement with Frisch’s restaurants and both restaurant chains became part of the Big Boy International restaurant chain.  All locations now operate under the Big Boy brand.

The cartoon series “Bob’s Burgers” reminds many people of the original restaurant and times. 

Today, the company has 121 restaurants in the U.S. and 93 around the globe,  not including 293 franchises in Japan. In 2013, the company had $9.4 million in profit.
