Chicken Express was founded by Richard and Nancy Stuart in Benbrook, Texas, in 1988. The company was one of the first fast food restaurants to offer delivery service in Texas. Franchising began in 1990.

Today, the company has more than 200 mostly franchised locations throughout the Southwestern part of the US. The company is best known for their iced tea, which they sell, literally, by the gallon. Other food items include catfish, fried chicken tenders, and a variety of side dishes.

In 2014, the company opened a new distribution center/cold storage warehouse in Burleson, Texas.

Torchy’s Tacos was founded in 2006 by current owner and CEO Michael Rypka. Mortgaging his house and leaving his corporate office job, Rypka purchased a food trailer and began selling tacos on the corner of Boldin Creek and South 1st street.

Today, the company has more than 43 locations in 3 states and an estimated 3 more locations by the end of 2017. The company offers a variety of tacos with interesting names such as The Democrat, The Republican, and The Scalding Pig. In addition to food, the company offers bottled hot sauce, apparel, and coffee mugs.

Golden Chick was founded in 1967 in San Marcos, Texas, by Howard Walker. The original name was Golden Fried Chicken. Franchising began in 1972. The company operates a chain of fast-food chicken restaurants.

The company has approximately 171 locations, most of them located in Texas and Oklahoma, including a few locations in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina, and one located in Pakistan. Best known for offering chicken tenders (sometimes called chicken fingers) made from white breast meat, the company has its own secret marinade and a combination of spices. In 1993, the company was purchased by an investment group and renamed its locations Golden Chick in 1996.

Monster Tree Service was founded in 2000 by current CEO and owner Josh Skolnick. The company operates a franchised chain of tree cutting services. Skolnick was operating his own landscaping business while still in high school. Customers always asked about trimming or removing trees. Skolnick believed this was an untapped business potential and opened his own company.

In addition to trimming trees, the company also removes trees, removes dead wood, trims shrubs and hedges, as well as keeping trees healthy or solves tree health problems. Tree planting and staking is also available. The company currently has 60 locations in 7 states, with plans to open at least 10 franchises each year.

Zen Massage Corporate Office

Zen Massage was founded in 2005 in Dilworth, North Carolina, by Kevin Koon. The company operates a mostly franchised outlet of discount massage therapy services. Franchising began in 2007.

The company’s focus is on the health and mental benefits of regular massage therapy, but at a discounted price. An average therapist earns $68 an hour. Koon dropped that price to $40. Unfortunately, Koon found that he didn’t enjoy the franchise part of his business and sold it to a friend in 2009 for an undisclosed sum. Koon and his wife still operate their original massage location in Dilworth.

Zen Massage currently has 16 locations in 41 states, all of them franchised. The company has no membership plan, customers pay each time they come in. This sets Zen Massage apart from similar enterprises. Headquarters are located in Harrisburg, North Carolina.
