Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlours was founded in 1963 by Bob Farrell and Ken McCarthy in Portland, Oregon. The company became quickly known for giving children free sundaes on their birthday’s, as well as for their 1900 turn of the century decor, player pianos, and waiter costumes that include straw boat hats.
At the height of the chain’s popularity, there were 120 Farrell’s locations. The company fell on hard times after 1980 and by 1990, nearly all Farrell’s locations were closed or sold. After a lengthy legal battle, Parlour Enterprises was determined to be the new owner/operator of the chain. The chain quickly opened 6 locations throughout California and 1 in Hawaii. The company has been in talks to reopen the original Farrell’s location in Portland.
The company offers a wide range of ice cream dishes, sundaes, milk shakes, and hamburgers.

YOUR WEBSITE SUCKS WHEN TRYING TO MAKE RESERVATIONS. I INPUT THE INFORMATION AND I GOT NO CONFIRMATION CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO HAVE TO CALL THE LOCATION AND REPEAT MYSELF ABOUT 3 TIMES IN ORDER TO MAKE A RESERVATION. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE REPRESENTATIVE HAD TO WRITE IT DOWN MANUALLY. WHEN OUR PARTY ARRIVES ON THE 21ST,I EXPECT PROBLEMS.
YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE, LOUSY.

Went to Farrells in Riverside on Momday Jul. 17 for my Dad and Daughter’s bday. We were a party of 4 on a Monday night. The restaurant was half empty, the “candy store area” was depleted and 2 of the 3 bathroom stalls in the womens restroom were out of order. We had to wait 30min to be sat despite LOTS of open tables. When we were sat, we waited almost 10min just to get our soft drinks. We ordered our food and told them about our bday celebrations. Our server “DeAnna” kept comimg over and telling us she’d be right back because she had to go sing for another birthday. We were already irritated with the wait, our chilidogs were lukrwarm, rootbeer float was flat (likely because it sat on the counter waiting for her to bring it to us). Then finally when we ordered our birthday sundaes…NO ONE CAME! At this point it was about 8:30pm and we had enough. We asked another server for our bill, paid it and were about to leave when DeAnna returned (without sundaes) apologized, and tried to sign happy birthday by herself to my Dad and Daughter. I told her it was really bad service, bad experience and that at tgis rate, their restaurant would be out of business soon. I understand trying to control labor and food costs, but if you don’t deliver QUALITY service and food, your customers will not return. Sadly we will miss what Farrells USED TO BE but we won’t be returning anytime soon.

Had the worst visit at Farrell’s in Brea on March 3, 2017 at about 2:20-2:29 pm. The greeter and the manager need to be trained. Have been trying to contact corporate without any call back. Since that visit I have left four messages. My friend and I were made to wait 15-20 minutes in a half empty restaurant. Manager and greeter Kristian had no explanation for the wait. Kristian said it was against policy for us to sit at the ice cream counter and order ice cream while waiting (unnecessarily) for our table. I would like corporate to respond. The email address I googled does not work.

My daughter and I costed the Riverside location and our waitress was Kat. Kat was absolutely the BEST waitress ever!!! My daughter had an extraordinary experience and it was all because of Kat. She was extremely attentive, gave great food advice and choices. When we return I will definitely look for Kat. I would highly recommend anyone who wants a great experience go to the Riverside Farrells and ask for Kat! I definitely will be returning soon.

Hi there,
I,planned a private party in advance at your brea, California location. The reservation was for 26 people. First off let me say that there are not enough party package options and the main, one offered is primarily potatoes with 4 mountains fries and then chili fries. I feel there should be more variety Available for large parties. Anyway I spoke with the team there 4 different times trying to customize my party menu. They were somewhat flexible letting me replace a fried pickle, for, chili cheese fries and garlic fries for regular and more chicken tenders which I appreciated.
I am in the private event industry and will admit that I am very particular. I was specific that I would arrive at 345 as would my guests and I wanted the table ready upon arrival. I,asked for,the appetizers to be ready to serve at 4pm and dessert by 445 because several of the kids had sport practice. All was confirmed so you can imagine my,dismay when at 4pm the table, was not ready adn,we had 20+ ppl at the door entrance crammed and loud waiting for the table. We got to put one long table for 26 which was crammed next to,2 other long empty tables with limited room to maneuver in and out.
Food did,not arrive til after 415. 3 Pitchers of soda brought with large plastic cups. I had to ask, for, smaller cups with lids as most kids were 4-7 years old. That took a while. Also it was never explained to me that the food was, going to be,placed “buffet style” on a separate table. The food was brought out almost 1 dish at a time. No small plates, no napkins, no serving utensils, no ranch dressing. People were having to grab the fries with their hands. As we are allowing people to get food, i was having to ask for all of the above items, plus the food, was not present. No garlic fries ever came, just regular. The 20 piece chicken tenders included pieces that were all batter and only 2 inches big. I was condensing like appetizers and bussing my own dishes. I,was clearing spills and having to find people for refill requests. Because the food, came out sporadically alot If the, group, was leaving when the last 2 plates of chili, fries came out so it went to waste.
The server gave my son the spoon for the huge ice cream sundae and didn’t return, for over 10 minutes. You can imagine what a 6 year Im,aboy and his friends are doing with that spoon in that wait time and it was used to,drive everyone’s ice cream. The ice cream took so long that it was after 5pm, 7ppl left and most of our guests had to take it to go. I had to track her down to get the ice cream bc my guests were leaving.
Lastly, My son requested the volcano. I ordered the volcano with the hostess Logan when i,made the reservation. When I spoke with the manager before the day of event he mentioned the zoo and I reconfirmed the volcano, but unfortunately they brought the zoo. i told the server it was wrong when they had it on the tray, but my,guests were leaving so,she served it. She shed also bring the volcano, but i wasn’t interested in wasting all of that ice cream just to prove a point. I refrained from complaining that day to,have face in front of my,guests however they all pointed out the lack of preparation and service received which was highly embarrassing. In addition to this, I have called every day since then and left a message,to,express my disappointment and NO CALL BACK! Truthfully the entire situation was just unacceptable. The service was slow and inconsistent, important details were missed from just the basic meal preparation to incorrect food being served. For a company with prices like yours, you really need the quality and service to show the value and I experienced neither of these things.
I would appreciate a follow up as I spent a great deal of money for a poor quality experience.
Thank you,
Michelle
