Cousins Submarines, more commonly known as Cousins Subs or even just Cousins, was founded in 1972 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by two cousins Bill Specht and James Sheppard. The company operates a chain of restaurants whose main focus is submarine style sandwiches.

The chain is perhaps best known for using fresh bread, baked at local bakeries and delivered fresh daily. The company was forced to close about 40 locations in 2009 due to the recession. As of May of 2017, the company operates about 95 locations in 3 states. Restaurants in Milwaukee are company owned, the remainder are franchises.

Cousins Submarines are usually made with food from local farmers or dairies, such as Wisconsin cheese, Badger Ham, and Sprecher Root Beer. In addition to sandwiches, the company also serves soups and salads.

In April 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Cousins Subs raised money to help frontline healthcare workers.

In June 2020, the company launched its first “Delivery Only” sandwich location.

My name is Charlene Lovett. My husband and I are senior citizens who generally enjoyed having cousins subs at least once a month.

I write this note because I am VERY disappointed in the service and lack of concern that I received on my recent visit, (August 16, 2022), at the Cousins Subs, store#1142 on 51st and Brown Deer Road in Milwaukee.
My Order Id: AAA7WKY8AQDZ, Employee: 1142a
I placed my order at the drive thru at 5:25pm. I was then told to pull into stall number 1 to wait for my order.
After waiting very patiently for 25 minutes, (and watching several vehicles come and go), I tried calling the store by phone to check on my order. I was placed on hold for several minutes before deciding to approach the door to see if I could get a response.
Eventually one of the employees came to the door and asked me what I ordered. Several minutes later the order was brought out to my car and handed to me with nothing being said, no confirmation of the order and no apology. As the young lady walked away I asked if the order was 2 double cheese steaks because the wrapping did not feel as though the sandwiches were hot!
I immediately called the store and asked to speak with the manager. At that time Abby came to the phone.
After I explained my situation she immediately told me that she knew the sandwiches were hot because she watched them being wrapped, (once again, no apology nor any sense of concern).
Abby did tell me that I could bring the sandwiches back in and she would have them made again….. mind you, I had already waited a half hour!
My husband and I pay good money, (over $25.00) for 2 sandwiches! At no time was there an offer of apology nor making me whole other than waiting possibly another 1/2 hour for 2 more sandwiches. My time is more valuable than the risk.
I would have considered myself as a regular customer of the store however after this experience I’m unsure if I’ll return.

    Awaiting your response.

Monday, October 6 I dropped my girlfriend off at work and when I got there the general manager (Aj) was not wearing a mask and then when her employee (Santana) took his mask off she laughed about it. Later on, my girlfriend got fired for taking her mask off for a brief second. First off, Aj doesn’t believe in masks and even refuses to order them for her store. What happens if someone forgets their mask? As a gm that is her responsibility. I’ve been around this cousins for months and Aj is not a good gm. She shares others personal information with other people and that is highly inappropriate. Aj also lets non employees behind the counter. She actually let me bag fries when my girlfriend was working and I never worked there. I did want to work there but she told me couples can’t work together. So why did you let me do your job then? Just because you didn’t want to? Aj is highly unprofessional and actually I think that the manager Courtney there proves to be 100% more professional than her and deserves to be the gm instead of Aj. Aj has let many people slide with no call no shows and even let a girl still work there after she lied about coming into contact with someone who “had” covid but never fired her. She claims that this person had a record of no call no shows but when my girlfriend did her first no call no show (after repeatedly telling Aj she would NOT like to work at a certain store again) she tried firing her. There’s also another manager (Brittani) who has had multiple complaints but she got to switch to the store she wanted and is now running that store. Tell me how that is fair to anyone? Please solve your issues with this gm because she is absolutely ridiculous.
