Founded in 1927 by E.L. Bruce, Terminix has evolved to become one of the biggest pest control companies in the world. Originally founded to stop termites from damaging wood floors, Bruce laboratories created the first termiticide. This product was unique as it was designed to only kill termites, unlike other pesticides. The company began franchising in 1955 and in 1957 became the first company to provide annual inspections and guarantees.

Today, Terminix is a subsidiary of ServiceMaster Global Holdings, Inc. The company employs almost 9,000 persons and had annual revenue in 2015 of $1.45 billion.

Terminix operates in 47 states in the U.S., as well as 22 countries around the globe. The company works with both commercial and residential buildings to remove common pests such as rats, mice, cockroaches, termites, ants, and spiders. Terminix also offers mosquito and bed bug treatments.

On September 15, 2020, the parent company of Terminx announced that it was changing the name from ServiceMaster Global Holdings to Terminix Global Holdings. This also changes the ticker symbol to TMX.

ServiceMaster is selling all other brands to Roark in a $1.553 billion dollar deal. 

In October 2022, British extermination company Rentokil acquired Terminix for $6.7 billion. It is unknown if the company will rebrand.

Terminix maintains its corporate office in Memphis, Tennessee.

In addition to pizza the company also offers menu items such as salads, chicken wings, breadsticks, and even beer at some locations. A lunch buffet is also offered in business districts.

In 2016 the company announced that it was redesigning and remodeling all locations to push for a nationwide expansion.

The restaurant chain added new locations throughout northern Mexico and in 1980, the first U.S. location opened on Alvarado Street in Los Angeles, California. In the early 1980’s, all American locations were purchased by Denny’s restaurants.

Today, the company has more than 400 locations and franchises throughout North America. The company went public in July of 2014 on the NASDAQ, where it is publicly traded under the ticker symbol: LOCO.

The restuarnt is a no frill experience but has unique twists that make it fun for many people, including serving drinks in a “fishbowl” type of glass. Although the company offers an “all you can eat” seafood bar or replacement meals, they have posted on their website that this is limited to 7 platefuls per person.

High Tide Harry’s does not offer delivery service but does have a take-out menu. The company was located at the corner of North Semoran Boulevard and Colonial Drive for 15 years, but moved closer to the airport in 2010. Heretick has stated that while remodeling costs were more than $250,000, he feels it was a worthwhile investment as business has increased substantially.
