TruGreen Corporate Office

Back in 1973, David Alexander started his own lawn care business in Troy, Michigan. The company quickly grew and in 1992, ServiceMaster acquired TruGreen.

ServiceMaster spun off TruGreen in 2015 just before ServiceMaster went public. TruGreen opened it’s own corporate office in Memphis, Tennessee.

TruGreen offers professional lawn care and landscaping services to clients in all 50 states.

In 2016, TruGreen acquired Scotts Lawncare. While Scotts Miracle Gro company still provides products for customers, their lawn service division was acquired by TruGreen and the name Scotts Lawncare was discontinued.

Bob Vila of This Old House recently featured TruGreen (August 2022) as one of the best lawn care companies in America. It is quite common to find the TruGreen name listed as one of the best lawn care companies on many sites, including Marketwatch.

In February 2022, the company was hit with a class action lawsuit claiming robocalls are violating the law.

Along with Jack’s brother Harvey, the pair created marketing strategies and produced a small mail-order catalog.

Quill became one of the first office supply mail-order companies in the US.

Today, Quill serves more than one million small and medium-sized businesses across the USA. While at least 70 percent of all sales are now completed online, the business also still has a mail-order catalog and a direct sales venue.

In 1998, Staples acquired Quill for $685 million. Quill remains one of Staples most profitable subsidiaries.

In 2007, JD Powers recognizes Quill for providing Outstanding Customer Service.

In 2008, Quill launched “the green scene” initiative with environmentally friendly products and business practices.

In 2015, the company picked up green kitchenware manufacturer TrueChoicePack.

The company operates a full-service employment agency, finding clients’ jobs, permanent and temporary, as well as offering staffing services to businesses.

PeopleReady is the flagship of TrueBlue, Inc., which also operates other subsidiaries, such as CLP (Construction Labor Pool), Spartan Staffing, PlaneTechs, TransTechs, Centerline, Seaton, SMX, Staff Management, and Peoplescout.

PeopleReady offers clients a platform and cell phone app called JobStack, allowing people to find and apply for jobs online. The app was recently given two awards, including the Centauri Award for Best App in the Consumer Website and Mobile Site category in the 2022 Vega Awards and a Bronze Stevie Award winner by the American Business Awards in the Utilities and Services category, also in 2022.

In February 2022, parent company TrueBlue and PeopleReady agreed to settle a suit brought by U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for firing a worker with a psychiatric disability, rather than working to accommodate the employee.

Also in early 2022, PeopleReady, PeopleScout, and PeopleManagement were all named Top Workplaces in the USA by employees for the second straight year.

Allen Lloyd purchased his first pharmacy in 1973 in Polesworth, Warwickshire, England, UK. The pharmacy grew rapidly; today, there are 1,351 locations around the UK.

Lloyds Pharmacy acquired Sainsbury Pharmacies in 2015 for an estimated $125 million. All Sainsbury Pharmacy locations have since been rebranded as Lloyds Pharmacies.

In 2019, Lloyds acquired Echo, an online prescription fulfillment center located in the UK. The price of the sale was not disclosed.

As Covid cases began to rise again, Lloyds Pharmacies once again began offering in-home test kits.

In August 2022, Lloyd Pharmacies temporarily stopped automatic refills due to a staffing shortage.

The company has partnered with Deliveroo for home delivery services at more than 150 locations.
