Original Tommy’s Burgers Corporate Office

Original Tommy’s Burgers, commonly known as Tommy Burger, was founded in downtown Los Angeles, California, in 1946 by Tom Koulax.  The original location is still in business as of this writing. Tommy Burger operates a chain of fast food-style burger restaurants in California and Nevada.

Today, the company has 34 locations in two states. The company is famous for making burgers and French fries topped with chili as a standard item. Koulax’s chili recipe tops just about everything made on the menu, including breakfast sandwiches.

The company is so well-known and popular in the greater Los Angeles area that there are dozens of copycat restaurants. 

Tommy Burgers is still owned and operated by members of the Koulax family.

After having headquarters in Glendale, California, for many years, the company recently moved its corporate office to Monrovia, California.

Crutchfield was founded in1974 by William Crutchfield, Jr., in Charlottesville, Virginia. The company operates a chain of consumer electronics and car stereo stores. Crutchfield was unable to find electronics or car stereos for a classic car that he was upgrading. He decided to create his own store for car and stereo buffs.

The company offers catalog sales, has an active eCommerce store, as well as numerous locations in Charlottesville and Harrisburg, Virginia. In 2008, Crutchfield launched their own DIY type of channel on YouTube to assist customers with installation issues. The company also states that it has the largest “Vehicle Fit” information in the US.

In 2007, Crutchfield was inducted in the Consumer Electronics Association Hall of Fame. The company was one of the first vendor authorized and approved online retailers. The company’s call center has won numerous awards by J.D. Power and Associates.

Simmons Bedding Company Corporate Office

Simmons Bedding was founded in 1870 when Zalmon Simmons opened his first factory. Simmons did not start off making mattresses, however, but  he started with telegraph insulators and boxes for cheese.  As repayment for a debt, someone gave Simmons the patent for bedsprings. By 1889, Simmons was manufacturing mattresses with built in bedsprings. Simmons is one of the oldest companies in the US.

Today, the company is best known for their Beauty Rest brand of mattresses. In 2013, the company had annual revenue of $1.228 billion, which puts Simmons in 3rd place among mattress sales. In 2012, both Serta and Simmons were acquired by the private equity group Advent International.

Simmons and Serta account for a 34 percent share of the mattress market in the US, however, there are currently no plans to combine the two companies.  Advent International maintains that the companies will maintain separate research, marketing, and developing departments.

Reebok was founded in 1958 in Bolton, England, by the two sons of a famous shoemaker, Joe and Jeff Foster.  The name Reebok comes from a South African antelope. The company designs and sells footwear, especially athletic footwear, as well as sportswear.

Adidas acquired the company in 2005. In 2010, the company formed a partnership with CrossFit, a fitness company, introducing a line of footwear and apparel in 2011. The company’s partnership with Les Mills has resulted in a popular shoe called the Z series; a dense midsole and outer sole that prevents the breakdown of foam.

The UFC announced a 6-year contract with Reebok in 2015. Reebok also provides shoes to some famous sports teams and athletes, including Las Chivas, a soccer club in Mexico, basketball great Shaquille O’Neal, and all NHL hockey teams.

In November 2023, the company announced that it would be releasing a special edition of Harry Potter shoes. 

In addition to sports fans, nurses also love Reebok shoes for various reasons.

Rawlings was founded in 1887 in S. Louis, Missouri, by brothers, George and Alfred Rawlings. The pair originally started with a small sporting goods store and a catalog. Rawlings introduced the first football shoulder pads in 1902, as well as the first all-weather football.  raw 2

The company is most associated with baseball, however, after providing the St, Louis Cardinals with baseball gloves in 1906 and in 1907, the company was providing baseballs for all major leagues.
