OneMain Financial was formed in November 2010, following Fortress Investment Group’s majority purchase of American General Finance from AIG.

OneMain can actually trace its roots back to 1912 when Alexander Duncan founded Commercial Credit Company in Baltimore, Maryland. Duncan’s company would eventually be named OneMain Financial through acquisitions and mergers.

Today, OneMain Financial primarily focuses on providing personal loans, and optional insurance products to customers with limited access to traditional lenders, such as banks and credit card companies.

As of December 2020, OneMain had approximately 1,500 branch offices in 44 states.

In January 2023, the company offered stockholders $1 in quarterly dividends per share. OneMain is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol OMF.

BankRate, an online bank, and financial services review company, gave OneMain 4.1 out of a possible 5-star rating in January 2023.

Mavis Discount Tire Corporate Office

Victor and Marion Sobaro founded Mavis Discount Tire in 1972 but it has roots in a bicycle repair shop operated by Victor back in 1949.

When a customer came by asking if Victor could repair a car tire, he gave it a try and was successful. Word spread and before long, customers were asking to buy tires when a tire could not be repaired.

In 1965, Marion suggested that the name of the company be changed to “Vic the Tire King”.

After expanding during the 60s, Victor and Marion wanted a more professional-sounding name. Combing both Marion’s and Victor’s names, Mavis Tire was born.

The company is a multi-brand tire dealer, offering other types of auto maintenance and repair services as well.

In February 2018, the Sobrano family sold the company to Express Oil Change and Tire for an undisclosed amount.

In August 2022, the company acquired Jack Williams Tire and Auto.

Green Dot Bank Corporate Office

Steve Streit founded Green Dot in 1999. The first debit card was called I-Gen and it was sold the following year.

Green Dot is the largest prepaid debit card company in the world.

Streit’s original business plan was to target teenagers and those who wanted to shop safely online.

In 2010, Green Dot Corporation went public on the NYSE under the ticker symbol GDOT with a valuation of $2 billion.

Since its inception, Green Dot has acquired a number of companies in the mobile, financial, and tax industries including Loopt, AccountNow, AchieveCard, UniRush, and Sant Barbara Tax Products.

In 2016, Green Dot Corporation’s brand, GoBank, partnered with Uber to launch the ‘Uber Debit Card’ – a checking account for Uber drivers to immediately cash out their ride fares.

The company also offers MoneyPak. MoneyPak is used to deposit cash to Green Dot prepaid cards but it can also be used to deposit cash onto third-party prepaid or bank debit cards. MoneyPak is available in the same stores GreenDot prepaid is and most stores charge $5.95 for reloading.

MoneyPak has been plagued by scams, however.

Walmart also created a partnership with Green Dot offering MoneyCard a reloadable prepaid debit card both online and in Walmart stores.

In October 2022, Green Dot unexpectedly fired its executive staff, replacing the CEO, CFO, and COO with George Gresham.

Green Dot recently moved its corporate office from Pasadena, California, to Austin, Texas.

Hugh Colson and his son William founded Holiday Retirement Living in 1971 in Salem, Oregon.

The company builds and operates senior living and assisted living facilities in 46 continental states.

By 2007, Holiday Retirement had become the largest owner and manager of assisted living facilities in the world.

In June 2021, Holiday Retirement was acquired by Atria Senior Living Management for an undisclosed amount.

Atria announced that Holiday Retirement would now be rebranded as Holiday Senior Living.

In January 2023, Atria announced that its $2 million renovation project had reached completion.

Holiday Senior Living maintains a corporate office in Winterpark, Florida. It is not yet known if the parent company, Atria, will change or move the corporate office to other facilities or merge the two offices.

Missouri Furniture

In 1977, Neil Faiferlick moved his family from Iowa to Missouri where he was surprised to find that there were very few furniture stores.

Faiferlick opened Camdenton Furniture that same year.

From that single location, the company slowly expanded over the years. Today, Missouri furniture owns 8 locations around the state, with the newest location opening in Washington, Missouri, in late 2022.

Neil passed away unexpectedly in 2014 but his wife and sons continue operating the family business.
