National Beef Packing Company was founded in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1992. The company is a beef processor which produces fresh, chilled and further processed beef and beef by-products for consumers around the world. The company’s main focuses include branded box beef, consumer ready beef, portion control beef and wet blue leather.

The company is the 4th largest beef processor in the US, with annual revenue of more than $7 billion each year. Beef products are sold to supermarket chains, independent grocers, club stores, wholesalers and distributors, food service providers and distributors, other processing facilities, as well as the U.S. military. The company has the largest wet blue tannery in the world, making “raw” leather for thousands of manufacturers, who will turn the leather into shoes, clothing, furniture, and more.

Anchor Bar Corporate Office

Anchor Bar was founded in 1936 by Dominic and Teressa Bellisimo. The company operated a typical bar/restaurant until one day in 1964, Teressa was asked to make something to eat for visiting friends. The only food left were chicken wings, which Teressa usually made into soup, but that night she made a special sauce to serve over her friend wings, and the Buffalo Chicken Wing was an overnight success.

Today, the company has begun franchising and currently has 10 locations. The original Buffalo, New York, location is still in business, selling their now famous wings, a variety of sauces, as well as apparel, accessories, such as key chains, and bottled sauces. The company is actively looking for more franchises to expand their business.

Anchor Bar is still located in Buffalo, New York, and offers 5 different flavored sauces. There is an active eCommerce site where sauce can be purchased by table top sized bottles or by the gallon.

Hornbacher’s Market Corporate Office

Hornbacher’s Market was founded in 1951 by Ted Hornbacher and Jim Custer, originally under the name of Ted’s SUPERVALU, in Moorhead, Minnesota. The company operates a chain of grocery and convenience stores, mainly in North Dakota.

As of 1990, the company operates as a subsidiary of SuperValu, Inc. Currently, the company boasts 10 locations, several with attached gas stations. Most locations offer pharmacies, in-store banks, and coffee shops. The online site for Hornbacher’s includes recipes, advertising for upcoming sales, as well as coupons.

Hornbacher’s is well known for sponsoring many charities, including Bowl for Kids’ Sake, benefiting the Big Brothers Big Sisters program; Cherries for Charity, benefiting the Rape & Abuse Crisis Center and the YWCA of Cass-Clay, and various Food Drives which benefit the Great Plains Food Bank, such as Fill the Dome. Tomah Cash Store Corporate Office

Tomah Cash Mercantile Company, more commonly known today as the Tomah Cash Store, was founded by Herman Rose in 1900. It was the first large store to be built in Tomah. The name came from the store’s original design to pay cash for farmer’s crops, rather than exchanging it for merchandise.

The company continues to operate, but no longer offers cash for crops. This modern day department store is constantly changing its merchandise to keep up with people’s needs and technology. The store stopped selling fabric in the early 1990’s because women were not sewing their own clothing, but they added more electronics. The company also stopped selling groceries in the early 2000’s, but now offer higher end lingerie and clothing.

Tomah Cash Store is operated by the great grandson’s of Herman Rose; Mark and John Rose, along with their wives and other family members. Company headquarters have not moved in 117 years; still located on Superior Avenue in Tomah, Wisconsin.

Hugo’s Family Marketplace Corporate Office

Hugo’s Family Marketplace was founded in 1939 in downtown Grand Forks, North Dakota. The company’s original name was Pure Foods Market, but was later changed to Hugo’s, after its founder Hugo Magnuson, who later became Mayor of Grand Forks.

Today, the company operates a small chain of 12 supermarkets in the states of Minnesota and North Dakota. The company recently opened 5 Hugo’s Wine and Spirit stores around the Grand Forks area. Hugo passed away in 2003, just a few days short of his 103rd birthday. He worked at the store the weekend before he passed.

The company is still owned and operated by the Magnuson family. The current CEO is granddaughter Kristie Magnuson Nelson.

In November 2022, Hugo’s acquired local grocery Palubicki’s Family Market for an undisclosed amount.

Both Palubicki’s markets will be rebranded to Hugo’s Family Markets but nothing else will change, according to a spokesperson for Hugo’s.
