Jake’s Dilemma was founded in 1994. Where does the name come from? The dilemma is which sports game to watch and which beer to enjoy it with. Jake’s is one of 8 bars that belong to the NYC Best Bars group.

The company offers more than 50 different beers from across the USA, as well as having 15 beers on tap. Jake’s also has a half-price happy hour every weeknight. In addition to offering sports games on large screen TV’s, the bar has one of the few foosball tables still active in the city.

Jake’s can offer parties of up to 200 persons in the main bar area or smaller settings in private party rooms, including The Oak Cellar and The Living Room.

The bar and bartender recently came under fire in March 2019 when a man wearing a MAGA hat was refused service by the bartender.

Tazza Kitchen Corporate Office

Tazza Kitchen was founded in 2013 by friends John Davenport, John Haggai, and Jeff Grant. All had previous restaurant and finance experience, which came together when they decided to create a restaurant that they themselves would love.

This upscale restaurant features a from scratch menu that is cooked over a wood-fired grill or oven. The original restaurant became so popular that the company has since expanded into 6 other locations in 3 states, including Virginia, North & South Carolina.

In 2018, the original restaurant site in Short Pump, Virginia, was remodeled to include an additional 1,000 square feet of dining room and kitchen space at a cost of $500,000.

Tazza Kitchen also announced in late 2018 that they were launching a drive-through option, offering their gourmet foods from the Short Pump restaurant for those who wish to take items home. Called “The Big Kitchen”, this concept eliminates people standing in the main restaurant for to-go orders.

Tinder was founded by Sean Rad, Jonathan Badeen, Justin Mateen, Joe Munoz, Alexa Mateen, Dinesh Moorjani, and Whitney Wolfe. Wolfe later left the company to start her own dating app, Bumble.

The app was originally designed as a chat device but most people today use it as a dating app. By swiping to the right, a user “likes” another user’s profile. When both parties “like” each other, they are able to chat. A swipe to the left is a “dislike”. The app has proved to be so popular that within two years, the company stated it was registering 1 million swipes each day. Tinder is one of the first apps to use the swiping motion.

In 2013, the company won the Best New App award by online site TechCrunch. The company stated that they had 10 million users as of 2014 and had an estimated annual revenue in 2018 of $800 million.

Since it’s inception in 2012, the app has been downloaded more than 100 million times. An estimated 79% of users are millennials.

Blaze Pizza was founded by Rick and Elise Wetzel in 2011. The name comes from the quick way that pizza’s are cooked; taking only 3 minutes on average.

Customers order similar to the way Subway sandwich shops work, with customers choosing their toppings as they walk down the service line, then picking up their pizza at the end. The Blaze ovens are 7 foot-wide gas-fired units that operate at average temperatures of 700 °F (371 °C) to 800 °F (427 °C). Since the high-temperature gas-fired pizza oven is the only piece of cooking equipment inside each of the restaurants, the same oven is also used to roast the chicken, cook the Italian sausage and meatballs, and bake some of the desserts.
