Bill.Com, not to be confused with Bills.Com, was founded in 2006 by Rene Lacerte. Lacerte realized that most companies were still doing invoicing, accounting, and paychecks manually with paper. He realized that there must be a better way.

Bill.Com is partnered with some of the largest financial institutions in the US and over 70 percent of accounting firms use Bill.Com.

The company went public on the NYSE (BILL) in December 2019. The stock rose 60 percent on its first day of trading. Some speculate that Bill.Com stock is growing over the speculation that the company will be acquired.

Forbes, however, is giving the stock a thumbs down for a myriad of reasons.

BCFS Health and Human Services Corporate Office

BCFS began in 1944 as a home for orphaned children. In recent years, this San Antonio–based, non-profit charity grew into a global nonprofit with regional offices around the U.S., as well as in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and Africa. 

In 2000, BCFS was a partner with the Texas Youth Commission and Bexar County to establish a transition center for young people who were aging out of the foster care system. 

The company has operated the Guadalupe Street Coffee and Westside Community Center in San Antonio, providing services to area youth and their families in partnership with city agencies, non-profits, and faith-based organizations.

By 2014, BCFS operated two large temporary detention centers and six permanent shelters for unaccompanied migrant minors.

 In 2015, BCFS received more funding than any other office of refugee resettlement contractor and nearly a quarter of total funding designated for the unaccompanied minor’s program.

BCFS operated the Tornillo tent city, the largest detention camp for minors at the time, June 2018-January 2019. In December 2018 it is estimated that the camp held more than 2,800 minors, mostly from Central America. CEO Kevin Dinnin claims that the organization was pressured to expand its operations by the federal government. 

The company opened the Carrizo Springs shelter in June 2019. The CEO, who is paid as much as $300 million to operate this facility, was heard to say “I hate this mission.”

The company recently said that they don’t plan to extend their contract with the US government to continue to run the Tornillo tent city and had plans to close it down due to all the negative publicity.

A team of students at Georgia Tech began working on a project which would help car owners understand their car electronics, the various systems of their cars, and how or why the Check Engine light is on.

The result is a small device called Fixd. This product hooks up the vehicle’s diagnostic port and uses an app to help you enter information and keep track of maintenance. When the Check Engine light comes on, the app can help to guide you on the problem your car is having and whether or not it is safe to continue to drive the car.

The Fixd device can be left in place or you can plug it in and remove it as the client wishes. In March 2019, the company announced that they were working in combination with VIZR, to create an add-on cell phone product where the GPS would be displayed as a small translucent screen, preventing the need for the driver to check at or look at their cell phone or navigation system.

Tom’s Guide recommended the Fixd product and app as far back as 2017.

In 1905, William Hearst purchased the magazine. By the 1930s, the magazine had 1.7 million subscribers and an advertising income of $5 million. The magazine began to lose its appeal during the 1950s and by 1965, it needed new blood. Helen Gurley Brown was hired as editor in 1965 and she turned the magazine on its head.

Known for her liberal views on women and sex, as well as an avowed feminist, the magazine began posting frank stories regarding sex and advice for more modern women.

The magazine has, more and more over the years, featured very racy covers and some models wearing next to nothing. The magazine is published in 35 languages and in 64 countries. The magazine has found new life in the “discover” portion of SnapChat, where young women hope to become models for the magazine.

The magazine recently published its first male model in December 2019.
