Terrible Herbst Oil Company, known simply as Terrible Herbst, was founded in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1959 by Jerry Herbst. His father, Ed, owned a gas station in Chicago, Illinois, in the late 1930’s. The company claims that Ed invented the click off nozzle for gas pumps, which allowed Ed to pump more gas since there was no need to sit with each car. His competitors complained that “This terrible Herbst is going to put us out of business.” Jerry found the name amusing and decided to name his company after his father’s moniker.

The company owns a chain of gas stations, convenience stores, smog stations, and car washes in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and California. Currently there are 100 locations, including 41 with car wash stations, and locations featuring 20 smog stations. Most locations also have convenience stores.

In February 2020, the Moapa Town Advisory Board, or MTBA, approved a zoning request from the Herbst family for a convenience store and gas station.

In 2019, the company added EV (Electric Vehicle) charging stations to all their Las Vegas, Nevada, locations.

Zondervan was founded in 1931 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, by Peter and Bernard Zondervan. The brothers were nephews of publisher William Eerdmans. The company began by selling excess books and bibles out of the family barn.

Today, Zondervan is one of the largest sellers of Christian themed books, bibles, music, and movies. The company is now a part of the HarperCollins Christian Publishing Company. In addition to Christian themed books and music, the company has a division of books on tape, children’s books, and religious home decor, including candles and wall plaques.

The company has been highly criticized by some fundamentalist groups for publishing different versions of the bible, including their gender neutral Today’s New International Version. Rolling Stone magazine received criticism after refusing to accept an advertisement for Zondervan’s bibles.

Sprint operates as a subsidiary of Softbank Group Corporation after Softbank acquired a majority share in 2013. In 2006, Sprint spun off their landline phones into a company named Embarq, which was later acquired by CenturyLink.

Sprint is attempting to merge with T-Mobile and began laying off employees in July 2019 in preparation. The merger is opposed by many and involves multiple lawsuits in 13 states and the District of Columbia.

Costa Del Mar is perhaps best known for their lifetime warranty on defects, as well as their repairs, which are performed in Florida.
