DynCorp International Corporate Office

DynCorp International traces its roots to two companies formed in 1946: Land-Air Inc., an aircraft maintenance company, and California Eastern Airways, an air-freight company.

In 1951 California Eastern Airways bought Land-Air Inc. to form California Eastern Aviation, Inc.

By 1961 the company had diversified and needed a new name to reflect the growing and changing company; Dynalectron Corporation was chosen as the new name. 

Today DynCorp is a United States national security contractor and supports the Department of Defense with international police force training and linguist services. The company also provides solutions for post-conflict countries to rebuild infrastructure,  remove weapons, install utilities, and provide security.

The company was created in 1901 when 30 gypsum and plaster companies merged to form United States Gypsum Company. Gypsum is a sulfate mineral and is the main component used in plaster.

In 1909 United States Gypsum Company (USG) acquired the Sackett Plaster Board Company, which had invented Sackett Board, the product that would eventually be called SHEETROCK.

The company experienced growth after its advertising campaign featuring the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair buildings, which had been built almost entirely out of SHEETROCK.
