March 1, 2019 my son and I were in Clair’s in Bridgewater Commons, NJ and got an ear piercing. My son saved his money to purchase his starter kit and earring. The directions were followed 100% and after three long weeks he took the earring out on March 24th to clean it and the piercing closed. I phoned the store and spoke with both the Assistant Manager and Manager to voice my concerns and was told fist by the assistant manager Elizabeth that if the earring is taken out and not replaced within 5 minutes the hole will close, that is BS. Then I told her that the contract I have in my hands does not state that anywhere and she admitted it is not written anywhere. No accountability on the part of the store managers, no accountability from the corporate office and I will never patronize this entire establishment ever again. The staff both Manager and Assistant Manager were unprofessional and the saddest part is that the manager tells me that the employee has a hearing disability which is not my business and should not be shared with me over the phone. She too is unprofessional and I would suggest Clair’s pay closer attention to the staff they put in place to run their stores. Terrible Service BRIDGEWATER COMMONS MALL Location!!!!

My daughter and her friends visited the Claire’s store in The Outlet at the Bergen Towne Center in Paramus, NJ on Labor Day, 9/3/2018. My daughter came home and said to me,” Mom, let me tell you what happened at Claire’s. Nothing could prepare me for what she told me.
She told me that as she and her friends walked around the store one of the employees, Kryste Ponticlas, began to follow them. She followed them all around the store and even to the counter. When they got to the counter, one of my daughter’s friends was purchasing, but they felt uneasy so one of them asked the cashier if there was anyone they could talk to because they felt like they were being followed. The cashier told my daughter and her friends that Kryste was just “doing her job.” Kryste tells them that if they don’t like her store or her, they could leave. My daughter said that one of her friends said that we are buying something and we will leave but that Kryste repeated that they could leave if they didn’t like her store or her or that she will call security. My daughter and her friends are African-American, Caribbean-American and Hispanic-American. White kids were in the store, as my daughter told me when I asked, but they weren’t targeted. Kryste called security on my daughter and her friends. Security came and told the girls that they had to leave. One of the girls said that they would, as soon as they finished purchasing.
My daughter was so shaken when she told me this despicable story of racial profiing that she cried profusely. My husband and I went back to the store to retrieve the name of the employee and manager. The cashier whose name was Lizette was singing a different tune. As I explained the reason for our visit, she never once said that she told the girls that the other employee(Kryste) was “just doing her job.” As we were reliving what my daughter had told me, my daughter began to cry again. My daughter is 15yrs old. I have taught her to be a tough cookie in this world but when you are targeted because of the color of your skin and someone else’s ignorance, it is frightening.
My husband and I are on a mission to inform others of the ignorant racial profiling at this store. I have told my children to tell their friends and for those friends to tell their friends and parents NOT to patron ANY Claire’s or Icing stores. My husband has posted a warning on his Instagram page which states what happened to my daughter.
I repeat: DO NOT PATRON THE CLAIRE’S STORE IN THE OUTLET AT THE BERGEN TOWNE CENTER!!!! Kryste Ponticlas is racist and should be fired. There should also be racial sensitivity training for all of the employees at ALL Claire’s and Icing stores.

I returned to this store with my daughter to exchange some items. We purchased these items under a special promotion, the day before. The worker was willing to return these items at the sale price but charge me full price on the new items.
He rolled his eyes and rudely spoke to me when I disagreed with the new cost.
I did not appreciate being treated so rudely especially in front of my eight year old daughter.
Customer service and attentiveness goes a long way.

I was a former employee, first the mgr accusing me that i didn’t do what her part to do. After updating information i didn’t get my 2nd paycheck that i find to fight for, payroll deposits that paycheck to an account that i updated with my mgr., then not just her accusations of me not providing a completed I-9 ( which was Employer’s responsibility to fillout) she texts (lack mgt., etiquette) still accusing and had me text her my personal information. Not to mention after putting two n two together “lies” n lies made of excuses. I was forced to resign, which in State of California 72 hours employer must pay me monies due “final pay”. I am still waiting for paycheck from Pay date July 14, n Still waiting for my final pay.
Unfortunately, it’s disappointing as Claire’s has been around for a long time. I wouldn’t refer my worst enemy to work for them or would i support such dishonest company. I will be filing a wage claim.

I worked at store 5560 for about 2.5 months. It started off great but the last 3 weeks were different. I was not trained properly and was basically put on the spot. I was a key holder with prier management experience so I know how to run a store and help customers. When I needed help on a task I called my asst. Manager and was told to figure it out myself. Couldn’t get a hold of the store manager cause shed yell at me if I called her on a day off. Also, the store manager would make the schedule weeks in advance and get them approved by the DM then after they were approved shed change it almost daily to accommodate her schedule and when the DM called asking for her I was told to lie and say she was doing an ear piercing or say she just went on break. The main point of this message is Claire’s needs to train their store managers on how to talk to their employees, how to properly train people and to not be XXXXXy. Lastly, the reason I quit Claire’s is because it was around inventory so we had to change the hole store around to be perfect so these people could come in and count everything. I’ve done inventory many times at previous jobs, I understand all stores do it differently. I worked my butt off every day and I’d always come into work with these nasty notes saying you did this wrong you did that wrong this is your fault so on. I had a closing shift and was called in hours before to come in WORK FOR FREE then clock in for a 3 hour shift. If I didn’t do that I would be fired. So I quit. The store manager is emotionally unstable, doesn’t know how to train staff or talk to them with respect. I will never shop at Claire’s or Icing again.

While shopping in the Claire’s location at the Staten Island mall with my 6 year old daughter tonight at around 6oclock, my daughter got very sick with a stomachache. I begged and pleaded for my daughter to use the bathroom,- even asked if I can leave my pocketbook at the register– she still told me no! My daughter had diarrahea in her pants because she had no common courtesy or heart to let a child use the bathroom!? I’ll be making a formal complaint in the morning to cooperate and to the store as well! I’m beyond disgusted as a paying costumer and also as an employee of NYC dept of health!

I was in the icing the other day. And the employee on duty was onher phone instead of helping the 6 customers in the store. When i asked her for assistance she rolled her eyes and told the person on the phone that she had to go. She then mentioned that she wanted a 60. Not thinking of course that anyone would know what she was talking about. I came back to the store later to find it empty. The door to the back room was partially open. The same employee was in the back room smoking a clear pipe. With muy knowledge of drug abuse. I knew it was crystal meth. How could this even happen? Be tolerated? I contacted claires corporate office about this but was ignored once. There was an employee dismissed a while ago from the same store that was assistant manager. She was dismissed on bogus aligations that she took merchandise home. But then returned it the next day. Because of a wear it program the employees participate in. I believe she was let go for no reason. And treated completely wrong for these actions. Why is an employee let go for being caught on surveillance cameras wearing product home. While another employee is still employed using drugs in the store. Something doesn’t seem right here. I will be contacting the mall manager with this same complaint. Hopefully this employees actions are dealt with by law enforcement.

On Saturday June 3, 2017 I shopped in Store 06012 in the Deerfield Towne Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. I went in specifically for necklace extensions and approached Corrie, who said she was the assistant store manager. She was extremely rude, pointed out where all the necklaces were and said she didn’t even know if they carried extensions and did not offer to help to find them.(I have bought extensions in Claire’s many times. (she also pointed out she was doing inventory during the conversation) She was too busy to stop and help me, there were no other customers in the store. I found the extensions and approached her and asked is she was too busy to ring me up. Then she was nasty and confrontational and refused to ring me up. I said I was going to call the police if she did not ring me up. What kind of assistant manager doesn’t know how to treat customers and even attempt to help a customer?? And also mentioned that the store closes at 8:50 pm. that she shouldn’t even be ringing me up?? I told her i was called corporate office on this matter. I got to my car and the time was 8:49. Her behavior was a disgrace!!!

I’ve been working here for about a month and still haven’t received any checks. I contacted my store manager and she is clueless. I also called pay roll and they have no record of me in the system? The managers are so terrible and don’t care about employees and are constantly on their phones in front of customers. Store 3010.

I went into Claire’s in Eastern Shore Plaza in Spanish Fort Alabama. I was looking for a pug cell phone holder. Another Customer came in the store the same time I did. The other Customer was greeted and helped. After that person left I was completely and totally ignored. The employees went to the back and did not even acknowledge me at all. Wonder if it was because I was white and the other Customer and employees were all black.

I use to work for icing for a little over a year. I have tried emailing your company and tried to get ahold of someone through the 1800Claries number for over a month now about my w2s. The day Force website doesn’t work either. I don’t know where else to leave a comment or other ways to get a hold of you. Claries is a poorly managed company, for a former manager for over 3 years is also having trouble getting her tax information from the company. Someone get ahold of me asap or give me a number where I can talk to an actual human and not forced to leave a message after 3 seconds of waiting.
Taryn Hubbard says
I’m having the same problem…I worked as a sales associate for two years and haven’t received a W2, every time I call the company they tell me try Dayforce–which doesn’t work–then tell me to leave a message to report to payroll. No one has gotten back to me. The store manager somehow knows nothing at all and I’m getting annoyed to say the least.

On 12/20/16 I allowed my daughter to go to the mall with her best friend to go Christmas shopping for her secret santa after school at the White Plains galleria in White Plains, New York. While out to dinner with my fiancé I received a call from her telling me that the store manager at Claire’s called the security guard on her because according to Alexis west and dominque Bradley the store managers working that night my daughter looked suspicious. So the security guard escorted my daughter to the back of the store and had her searched. Of course they found nothing cause she wasn’t stealing nor does she steal. My daughter is a minor and no one contacted me. When I arrived at the store of course I was very upset. When I spoke to the Alexis and asked her why did she call security on my daughter her response was that she looked suspicious. When I asked what is looking suspicious she told me that my daughter had her hands in her pockets. When I asked her since when does being in a store with your hands in your pocket all of a sudden determine to be acting suspicious. Her response was well it happens all the time it’s part of the job. No of them apologized to my daughter. Instead I was told by store manager dominque Bradley that my daughter needs to grow tougher skin and get over it. Both store managers were African Americans and yes I did ask was it because my daughter was black because when I got there my daughter was the only black girl in the store. I explained to these two ladies that as a mom when you receive a phone call from your child crying because she has been falsely accused and feels victimized and you guys have now just humiliated her publicly and neither one of you can apologize to this child now the two of you along with the security guard Nelson #74 have just scarred her and situations like this does affect a child mentally especially one that has never gotten into any kind of trouble in her life ever. They response was that it happens all the time and my daughter needs to get over it. Never seen such poor excuse employees in my life. Even though they were wrong did not apologize to a minor child in fact they were smiling like what they did to my daughter was okay. It is sad that these are the type of people that Claire’s has working for them. It makes the company as a whole look bad because if there is no repercussions it makes it appear like this kind of behavior and mistreatment of customers is acceptable by the company.
