Blimpie was founded in 1964 in Hoboken, New Jersey. The company is a submarine sandwich shop with approximately 2,000 locations around the world. Almost all Blimpie locations are franchised.
Blimpie began testing a low calorie menu in 1989 that proved to be successful, but the company ran into difficult times in the 1990’s. After trying different concepts and products, Blimpie found success with Pasta Central in 1999, and Smoothie Island, a mixture of fresh fruit and fruit juice, in 1998.
In 2001, Blimpie was purchased by a private investor group for $25.7 million. A controlling interest by Kahala Corporation in 2013. Kahala Corp. has since changed their name to Kahala Brands.

This location is the worst. I was told to F off by the owner. I was a daily customer for 2 years. I will spend my money elsewhere.

Dear Blimpie,
Students 2 Science is a nonprofit organization that Inspires, Motivates, and Educates students. We have recently opened a center in Newark and will bring ~2600 students to our facility and reach another 30,000 through virtual laboratories. For each school visit to the center we have corporate volunteers work side by side with students to mentor the students through our STEM laboratories. We provide lunch for these volunteers (from companies like PSEG, Merck, Panasonic, Rutgers, NJIT, etc.). We were hoping that you would consider helping to help us in our cause to increase Newark Public School STEM education by sponsoring a few days a month (by providing sandwiches for ~15 individuals). In return we can promote Blimpie in the center with coupons and other promotional materials.
Regards,
Gary Sarkis

I was very upset driving all the way across town to have the store close early, I understand if an employee has an emergency but the employee left early to go home to her kids, all I wanted was to eat a sandwich how would the Blimpies employee feel if I did that to her.

The blimpie store in jersey city new jersey 75 Montgomery street is suppose to open at 7am Monday to Friday instead it isn’t open till 7:30 and sometimes later the person
who opens the store lives across the street. The people who were at this location
before this guy had the store opened before 7 am people walk by and keep on going.
I have been going here for years I hope you can do something about this situation.
a disgusted customer. I would like to see him transferred to another location.

You all are so stupid. Yes, stupid! How can you allow the FIRST Blimpie to close down??? The owner was amazing including the workers. I wish all sub shops were like the one in Hoboken. I took a train 2 towns in just to go to the hoboken Blimpie to find that it is closed. I am so upset. This Blimpie was better than any other sub shop I have ever dined in. I am so annoyed you as a corporation allowed this to happen. They used great products and the food was always fresh. From some of these comments I’ve seen, each store should’ve had mandatory training at the Hoboken shop. This shope was the closest to the real thing, not like Subway (where they food is fake and disgusting). I am in such shock that corporate allowed their #1 store to close down. You should be ashamed of yourselves. You have lost sight of why Blimpie was born and built upon. Your all money hungry and dont see the Real people that deserve recognition like the Hoboken Blimpie!!!

The store in Council Bluffs, IA . Is one of the dirtiest store I’ve been in . The guy work was sitting in his car with someone when I pulled up we walked in the sametime wearing sweatpants he went behind the counter without washing his hands and put on gloves just about walked out (should of) then when done with my order he went back out to the car to wait for the next customer. Will never go back there Subway right across the street.

Hello.
I just wanted to share my family’s experience with you. Today we stopped in to get some drinks snacks worms gas and chicken. The lady at the register was nice, she ask the lady cooking the chicken about how long till it was done and we went on shopping, we had no problem waiting for fresh hot meat! Once we got our stuff, we came back yo look at the menu. As we were deciding a younger dark hair girl ask my brother what he wanted, just like that, what do you want, with a lot of attitude, he said eh and went back to the menu bc we were not sure yet, ash she did nit give us time, she as rude as she could say “eh? I don’t know what eh means!” We said we were looking at the chicken and she hollers back to see how much time is left on it. The cook says ” i already told them, about 4 mins. Well by this time we have already had enough of the “friendly service” and start thinking maybe it was a bad idea. They probably spit on the food or something. Well as we are deciding to leave with out anything she keeps pestering us, we’ll what did you want, as we say we don’t think we want anything, she says something else but we leave. Granted, we were looking at about 25$ of chicken, went out moved the car from the pump and came back in to get it. We really wanted chicken, but no way were we buying and supporting these employees when they treated is like dirt. We ended up going our fishing without food. No way we were going back into Greenville for food when we already came this far.
This really upset everyone involved, we had kids in the car waiting on good food.
Thank you for your time, im.sorry to say but until the service changes we will not be back. I know my brother had had a few bad incidents with the employees here too.
